No it's not that, it's because A) these are not popular names by any means and B) it was on Showtime which had pretty poor ratings this past year or so (with a few exceptions with the bigger names of course).
Basically, this card was never going to have good ratings. Russell vs Gonzalez is an undercard fight.Comment

I feel the same way about the Charlo twins..Vanes is ordinary to me.
Johnny Gonzalez, I remembered being viciously ko'd by Nishioka at 122. So, I never watch any of his fights after that, with the exception of his fluke win over Abner Mares.Comment

I caught it live, but on a scale of 1 to 10, my anticipation meter for this fight was about a 2.
I mean lets be honest here. Russell/Gonzalez is a co-main. Hell, f**king Loma & Russell was a co-main.
This fight had no chance ratings wise.Comment

That's part of the reason why the number Golovkin-Murray posted was such a big deal.
As for the Russell-Gonzalez rating...not really that surprising. I probably would've guessed a little higher, but not much.Comment

That's what happens when you go up against March Madness.
Kentucky vs Notre Dame>Vanes vs some Charlo.
At least the CBS card starts before the Final Four on Saturday. Too bad the games are on TBS instead of CBS thought.
Would've been a good lead-in to the gamesComment
