  • Comments Thread For: Kell Brook Wants Juan Manuel Marquez at Bramall Lane

KELL BROOK has called for a summer showdown with boxing superstar Juan Manuel Marquez at Bramall Lane.

The Sheffield welterweight was in superb form on his return to the ring to defend his IBF title, blowing away Jo Jo Dan in four rounds on Saturday night.

And Brook, 28, now wants to face future hall of famer Marquez this June at the home of his boyhood football club Sheffield United.

Marquez may be 41, but the four-weight world champion has beaten some of the biggest names in boxing and is expected to return to action following a knee injury.

Name dropping Thurman, yet picking Marquez. This fight at this point is on par with Khan beating Barrera and that was a confidence builder.

      Idiotic comment.

Marquez is ranked higher than Brook. Barrera was shot to hell when Khan fought him.

I'd like Marquez to take this fight if any. I think he could leave a great account of himself and leave the sport head held high. Still think he should have retired after pac ko but Brook is looking good and is popular so why not.

Marquez at 41 is prime and ready.

Idiotic? Does Wlad have a left hook?

He's still ranked in the top 4 and has beaten a good contender last time out. Marquez is better than MAB, but I really think Brook should target Chris Algieri.

            not bad.

There is literally no chance of this happening.

Marquez is touch and go in terms of staying in the sport, and if he does stay, he's not going to travel to fucking Sheffield (no offence).

Plus, Brook is a big welterweight. So even if Marquez suddenly decided lovely Sheffield was one of the great world cities he just had to see, he's not going to take on one of the biggest men in the division.

Finally, JMM would want a king's ransom to even consider this fight. Eddie would be pissing sweat at the thought of his transatlantic flight tickets.

Bad choice - Marquez is gonna ruin Brook. At least Brook will have some chance against Khan.

Barrera was ranked #1 by WBO and Khan #5 when they fought.

Marquez won't fight Brook. He's too big and a bad style match up.
