But he hasn't fought Canelo, and probably never will! He and his team waited until the deadline that they all agreed on to make Canelo an offer that was unacceptable. If he really wanted the fight, why not make an offer before the deadline, to leave room for more negotiating?

As for the MW championship, Cotto knew Martinez was losing ground when he saw the Murray fight. I guarantee Cotto didn't want the version of Martinez up to and including the Chavez, JR fight (barring the knock down, which caused his knee injury).

Just admit that Cotto is being careful in not choosing a bonafide, dangerous MW, because he knows he's too small, & will likely lose. It's ok.

Roberto Duran started at 135 and fought Iran "into a right" Barkley who was a 6'2 light heavy posing as a middleweight and ended up as a heavyweight. Duran fought Hagler who was killing everyone. Duran KO'd a young Davey Moore at JM. Duran had the most courage and the best fighter I ever saw. cotto is a coward and most are compared to Duran

I never called Cotto a pu$$y, you did! Posters like you are so transparent. I must have hit a nerve, hence your resorting to name-calling. No doubt, Canelo is fighting well beneath his natural weight class & I don't defend him. I'm talking about the negotiations between him and Cotto, though. Cotto was hoping for a rematch with Mayweather, if the Pacquiao fight fell through. That's one reason he turned down Canelo's offer. And that's why he waited until the last minute to do it. I don't really hold that against him. But I do feel that his declaration that no sanctioning body will control his career, is a direct excuse as to why he won't fight GGG. Who by the way, is his mandatory MW challenger.
