Whoever is landing the effective shots/the ones that count. Wether it is from an aggressive approach or a defensive one, whoever has the best shots on hand is scoring the winning points in my opinion. That is what they are in there for at the end of the day, to fight, so therefore points should be scored based on who lands the effective shots. If it is close or a little hard to call then ring generalship etc comes into play more obviously.
