    It's as simple as that
I was thinking the same. So disappointed of Stevenson / his managers.

If we could get this fight down the year. with Floyd - PAc ... possible Cotto Canelo.

I was pissed the night they had Kovalev and Stevenson on the same card. Then after Stevenson's fight he was saying **** like "the fans want Hopkins!" while the crowd cheered louder for Kovalev.

**** Adonis Stevenson. He's a piece of schit.

People were saying before the Hopkins fight that Kovalev would get schooled, and there was no way that Sergey would win a points decision.....how wrong they were.....Bernard barely won a round on anyone's card.
So if Kovalev outboxes Hopkins, there is no way a rough slugger like superman will school him........Stevenson's only chance is by making it a suggest and banking in an early KO when Kovalev cold and looks his most vulnerable.

Or who could forget the classic "Happy New Year Quebecccc!!!", when asked about fighting Kovalev.

Probably because I've been around for awhile now.

It will come down to how their styles mesh on the night. And based on their styles, it could likely come down to whoever lands the first meaningful punch.

Hey, do you remember a guy named Matthyse?

I remember him, he could do it all man..... box / ****, the guy was an absolute killer..... he put the whole division on notice..... apparently the 140 champ was running like a b1tch, he wouldn't go anywhere near Matthyse.

I wonder what happened to that Matthyse guy ?

              50/50.

I also saw this as a 50/50 fight till Kovalev outboxed BHop and Fonfara took Stevenson's best shots and came back at him.

If Fonfara could tale meaningful punches from Stevenson and stay in the fight, I think Kovalev could too. But the first meaningful punch Krusher lands will spell the end for Stevenson, who's chin isn't too good.

I think that Kovalev used one tactic very successfully against Hopkins, that tactic made it extremely difficult for an ageing Hopkins to get his game going.

That will not be so effective against Stevenson..... which is why I mentioned that it will likely come down to how their styles mesh on the night.

But you could be right bro, for sure.

I've just seen this all before.

You got my point about Matthyse ?

Everything you/others have said about Kovalev, has already been said about Matthyse. Garcia was an even bigger underdog in the eyes of fans than Stevenson is right now. Garcia had no chance, NONE.

Garcia was the underdog against Matthyse, true, but Lucas had already lost twice by then, whereas Kovalev has gone through the top men in his division - apart from Stevenson - like a knife through butter. Nobody has even come close to beating him and everybody he hits cleanly, he hurts and drops, even the iron-chinned Pascal.

He has proved conclusively that in his case, the hype was justified. Stevenson's southpaw stance might possibly give him problems. But, imo, that's not enough of a reason to make this a 50/50 fight.

Matthyses 2 losses were BOTH disputed split decisions, but that is actually irrelevant, because it is all about momentum..... at that point in time Matthyse was being announced as the next coming of Jesus Christ.

I remember it very clearly, it wasn't that long ago. To the overwhelming majority of posters, Garcia has absolutely no chance whatsoever.

Sorry, but I think it mirrors the pre-fight situation exactly.

Kovalev has had two good wins, which is about the same as Matthyse at that point in time, but most of Matthysses momentum (hype) was based off the Peterson KO.

Look, forget all that, the point is this....

99% of people were picking Matthyse (like they are now with Kov)
99% of people could not have been more wrong

And, it aint the first time thats happened either.

Also, out of frustration, people have now started to sleep on Stevenson.

                      I still got it 50/50.

I will not be the one who makes a categoric prediction regarding that fight, and then ends up looking silly because I got it dead wrong..... thats all I'm saying.
