Comments Thread For: Hopkins: Stevenson's Claim To 175 Throne Getting Thin

On the night of March 14th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Bernard Hopkins was on hand as part of the HBO broadcast crew that called Sergey Kovalev's impressive eight round stoppage of Jean Pascal. Shortly after the fight, Hopkins had a conversation with one Adonis Stevenson, who holds the lineal light heavyweight championship.

Stevenson promised Hopkins that he would soon face 'the Krusher', who has the WBA, WBO and IBF belts around his waist.

His claim is gone. It was thin the moment he ran off to Showtime. It hung by a single thread after Kovalev dominated Hopkins. The Pascal beatdown established Kovalev as the man at the weight.

        Kovalev's got Hops and Pascal.

        Stevenson's got Cloud and Dawson.

There is no real Champ. They have to fight each other. I know that Kovalev takes the fight in a heartbeat, but that alone doesnt make him the 'real' Champ at the moment. None of them has a claim.

By the way, I believe Adonis takes it too, but its gonna be on Haymon's terms.

I agree with Popkins and I'd take Kovalev's chin in that battle.

The Alien is right! But boxing is a business and the fighters are the ones putting their lives on the line. Haymon wants to marinate the fight a little longer, so the demand is bigger in the fall. Its gonna be Stevenson and Kovalev Highest pay days. But at the end on the day, the best 175 fighter is The Russian Machine.

              Cloud?

Cloud was coming off 2 losses and didn't even have a belt when Quackenson beat him. It's ridiculous to act like beating him meant something. It didn't even mean as much as Kovalev beating Campillo.

Stevenson is a coward and a disgrace to boxing. He doesn't have the balls to get in the ring with the best light heavyweight in the world Sergey Kovalev.

Can't wait for Stevenson to ice Kovalev. I don't dislike Kovalev but Stevenson schools Kovalev if they ever meet.
