Lomachenko was 138 against Russell Jr. as well. Gradovich is close to 140 on fight night. Yet people would tell you that Walters, who was " only " 138 against Donaire, is a huge featherweight. He is very strong and athletic, but not that big at 126, and definitely not bigger than the other featherweight champions / contenders if fight night weights are anything to go by.
They should make it illegal for you to come in 10lbs over the weight limit

Is there a way of accurately testing hydration levels? Blood/Urine tests maybe, idk?
Something like that in conjunction with same day weigh ins would be spot on.Comment

whatever.Your body is your responsibility. It would be very sad if someone got brain damage or worse died because they tried to cut weight on the day of a fight, but people get injured and die doing dumb stuff everyday.
Worse is when your health is put at risk because of a decision someone else has made imo
you guys are just making a big deal over nothing.
day before weigh ins are fine and have been.
boxers have been safer for it.
rehydration limits are idiotic tbh.Comment

I think I remember that Kevin Mitchell was in an IBF eliminator and didn't make the check weight so he didn't get the shot even though he won the fight.Comment

I think the IBF are the only ones who do the whole second day weigh in, and yes I believe you can lose your title. I don't remember their rules off the top of my head, but I think that's correctComment

Eye opening then. I also had assume that somehow Walters was towering, but he looks like par for the course. So for Donaire he was meeting men his own size?Lomachenko was 138 against Russell Jr. as well. Gradovich is close to 140 on fight night. These guys would outweigh someone like Rigo by what, 15 lbs?Comment
