Perhaps but he's a white Mexican with a come-forward style and 154 lbs. isn't exactly a stacked division.
Canelo is a bum

Canelo is a solid fighter, he probably isn't an ATG fighter but the dude is legit and def not a bum..Comment

Not a bum but an overachiever himself, I throw him in there with the likes of Danny Garcia. Two strong, solid fighters whom manage to figure out a way to overcome adversity. They may do one or two things incredibly well but are average in the rest of the departments necessary for a boxer to be considered a great of the sport.
One has incredible timing and a devastating left hook and the other has hand speed and combination punching. Both have incredibly solid resumes considering their age and both are fighting at a made up weight division lol. Yup, Danny G. Is the US American version of Alvarez.Comment

He is limited in some ways but fights well for what attributes he has. Good and diverse combination puncher, pretty fast hands but his cement feet hold him back.Comment

He might be, but he's fought damn near everyone fans want him to.Lost every single round against Mayweather
Got bashed up with ease by a geezer called TROUT! No way did Canelo win this fight.
Got schooled by Matthew Hatton
Has only ever fought 1 good fighter (Mayweather)
Canelo is a one sided, overrated, wet behind the ears BUM who couldn't beat his meat.
I'd love to see a single argument that proves the above to be incorrect.Comment

Is he P4P top 5? No. Can he be? Sure depends on how much he wants it.
It seems that because he's a popular Mexican fighter everyone wants him to be the second coming of Chavez Sr. He's not. Few fighters will ever be. few fighters will ever be Pacquiao and Mayweather. Doesn't mean he's not a terrific and entertaining young fighter. Doesn't mean he's a bum.Last edited by JJRod; 03-23-2015, 03:04 PM.Comment

At no time was Mathew Hatton EVER viewed as more that a second rate welter by anyone. Robbery??? WTF?At the time Matthew Hatton was the best fighter in Europe and just on the edge of the P4P top 10, he had better footwork than Mayweather (i stand by that, and ask yourself why Mayweather didnt go through with fighting him). He had blistering speed, a phenomenal jab, rock solid chin and a freakishly high ring IQ.
Were it not for the robbery against Canelo then Matthew Hatton would likely have got the PPV fight he deserved against a fellow P4P boxer. The judges were clearly bought by Canelo's team and promoter as i scored it 10 rds to 2 in Hattons favour. It was the biggest disgrace in boxing that year. It ruined Hattons confidence, his faith in boxing just collapsed, and i dont blame him.
Now he makes gravy in Oldham.Comment
