Because he was "the man" of 140 from 05-09...

hatton isn't an atg, but he is a lock for hall of fame

At 140 lbs he beat an over the hill Tsyzu and Castillo. Malignaggi and Urango are his good wins at 140 lbs. Hardly HOF.

His peak was spent fighting 38 bouts, so he can get a shot at a proper World title. Hatton was a multiple time National champion in UK, which is a big deal, so its not like Sergio Martinez.
Lmao when people think tszyu was old... The dude was looking like a million bucks in the fight prior to Hatton.. He sliced right thru shambra, the same shambra that would be shot and up in weight and last longer vs a prime floyd and prime paul Williams

Tszyu was a p4p guy at the time and some had him top 5 after he crushed shambra..

Castillo was on the downhill, but I don't think anyone before or after has ever beaten down castillo like that..

Hatton was elite at 140, just not an elite p4p fighter... But at 140 he was in the top percentile

Tszyu is a hall of famer, and he basically only has the Judah win as a signature victory.. Hatton dethroning tszyu, stopping prime pauli are on par with that..

That was another obvious cherry picking, funny how they Didnt pick on Witter when he also had a belt at 140, they picked on collazo at 147 and that picked went wrong even doe they thought they were picking the weakest champion at 147 at that time.

If he fought Witter it would had brought quite a lot more respect to his name.
Judah & Bradley hold solid wins over Witter that only add to their bona-fide resumes.

No doubt that witter got dodged abit, but in the long run, witter never really lived up to his potential...

People are acting like hatton has some weak, manufactured resume like broner, which is not the case,,,

Hatton was a good champion, but he was carefully manoeuvre while getting the biggest hype which his resume didn't deserve back then.

No doubt he was carefully moved but what fighter isn't... The guy was a crowd favorite that could draw big money,, eventually they cashed him out vs top guys and he succeed everytime except for floyd and manny. But who doesn't lose to those guys

Kostya Tsyzu may not have been at his very peak but few would have defeated even that version of Tsyzu. Hatton's 'elite' status was built largely on the back of that win. It may have flattered Hatton somewhat but bare in mind that very few fighters become world champions defeating such an esteemed champion as Tsyzu. Similar to McGuigan's win against Pedroza.

He won a wrestling match against Tsyzu, not a boxing match.

I didn't like Hatton's holding in the Tsyzu fight, or all the other ones, but it wasn't the holding that made Tsyzu quit.

harton has always been overrated no way is he atg but if they let barry mcguigasn in the hof and arturo gatti then hatton may get in but not before castillo and corrales get in.
