Is there anything in Martinez's history that would lead you to believe that he took a dive? I've watched the fight many, many times. He got clunked on the head 1 minute into the fight and was not the same after that. Unfortunately, on the HBO feed, the ref obscured that punch. I thought he threw a nice jab or two prior to that point...after that, he was not able to do anything.

You're right...it was totally bizarre that Martinez could not land **** the whole fight. But there are explanations for that ... other than taking a dive. Also...if he was taking a dive, how do you explain his exchange with Sarmiento before round 10? You think both of them are that good at acting?

No way did Martinez take a dive vs Cotto. He just carried on fighting too long, like so many champions before him.

Nobody with a brain in his head would think think that a proud champ like Martinez would want his reign to end with a KO defeat against a guy moving up from a lower division. Especially not a guy he despised as much as Sergio hated Cotto.

I would advise against anyone dropping a weightclass. We've all seen what can happen. I have no problem with Lara moving up of course.

yes, the Williams haymaker was a great highlight clip but as Sergio learned, Cotto is NOT Chavez Jr or sickly Rehab Pavlik. He fought an elite fighter who came in on a mission. No one with a brain inside their head would look at that fight and think nothing's fishy about it , unfortunately u do . When u have little to protect , like say an undefeated record , it's what some fighters who do occasionally , they cash out and bet on their opponent through other people of course . It's the surest money there is ! U can argue he has a legacy to protect but it's seems very well in tact considering his sloppy acting job didnt raise too many eyebrows
