I'm not so sure I would take a fight that I was most likely to lose either unless I was getting paid serious stacks.

That said, I think Cotto would do better than most think against GGG.

Why should he vacate ASAP? That would be about the dumbest thing he could possibly do.

Cotto did not duck Canelo. I think Canelo just got impatient. I don't blame Canelo, though. He can make his own choices, just like Cotto can.

I do not expect Cotto to keep me fully informed of his thought process, and any fan who expects that from a professional athlete needs to get a life. Cotto's duty is to himself and his family. It's not to his fans...especially those, like you my friend, who bash his family.

I understand ur a Cotto fan , but all that aside for a minute and look at how much of Warrior Martinez has been in every fight at 160 . Then here comes Cotto up from 154 and appears to have Martinez falling all over the ring . Martinez did absolutely nothing that fight but pretend he couldn't walk . If ur that injured u postpone the fight , period ! Who takes a fight knowing they can barely walk ? By the way , still shots make all punches look vicious . Re watch the actually fight and let me know the round and minute Martinez did anything that could of possibly hurt Cotto?

Is that really so difficult for you guys to comprehend?

As for the move up to 168, that was always something GGG's team were looking at doing in the future - AFTER he cleans up at MW, not before. It would be a gamble, for sure, and could destroy his dreams of ever being an undisputed champ at any weight if it went wrong.

He would have to be crazy to take a risk like that at this stage of the game, now that he is mandatory for Cotto and has hopes of a shot at the WBO belt if Lee can see off Quillin.

And please, shut up about Lara. Even if Lara's team wanted it, which they don't, it would be a complete mismatch and do nothing for GGG's career or reputation: "He only fighting smaller guys doe"
Nice to see someone posting the facts that everyone seems to ignore on a regular basis. Unfortunately it will serve little purpose as some people here will not be satisfied until GGG moves up and fights Wlad for his heavyweight title.

Funny how 90% of the peasants claim GGG will "end Cotto's career EASY," yet in the same sentence, think that it somehow makes GGG a bonafide "MIDDLEWEIGHT" champ. Raise those standards...

No one has ever claimed that GGG needs to beat Cotto to become a bonafide MW champion. He already is a MW champion who has defended his title more than anyone else currently in the division. GGG needs Cotto's title to become the UNDISPUTED MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION. Something that Cotto has never achieved in any weight class and never will achieve. Nor will Mayweather or Pacquaio. In fact becoming a UNIFIED UNDISPUTED CHAMPION has only happened twice in the history of the sport and it was Bernard Hopkins who managed that feat first. Jermaine Taylor can also lay claim to the honor as he defeated Hopkins for the titles but did not hold the IBF title very long.

If Kovalev meets and defeats Stevenson, he will become the third person in history to hold all 4 major titles in a division at one time.

THAT is why GGG wants Cotto's title.

Is there anything in Martinez's history that would lead you to believe that he took a dive? I've watched the fight many, many times. He got clunked on the head 1 minute into the fight and was not the same after that. Unfortunately, on the HBO feed, the ref obscured that punch. I thought he threw a nice jab or two prior to that point...after that, he was not able to do anything.

You're right...it was totally bizarre that Martinez could not land **** the whole fight. But there are explanations for that ... other than taking a dive. Also...if he was taking a dive, how do you explain his exchange with Sarmiento before round 10? You think both of them are that good at acting?

                    EXACTLY.

Martinez got clipped by Cotto and was unable to shake it off for the rest of the night. He WAS however, able to dart after Cotto like a track star in the 6th round with that lame suckerpunch/desperation move.

People act like pre-plaster Margarito, did not KO Sergio in 7 rounds...

People act like fighting Chavez Jr's slow @ss, would look anything like fighting the smarter and faster Cotto.

yes, the Williams haymaker was a great highlight clip but as Sergio learned, Cotto is NOT Chavez Jr or sickly Rehab Pavlik. He fought an elite fighter who came in on a mission. Now, was Sergio "prime?" No, but technically, neither was Cotto ever after the car accident that took his right hand away. I could go on about plaster assaults and Ariza shakes but I think most people understand the deal.

Give Cotto his just dues for fighting everyone and remaining a CLEAN athlete in a circus FULL of fake idols on that power pellet BS. The next PED cheat will soon be revealed and his name won't ever be Miguel Cotto.
