golovkin's opponents generally get paid fairly well (more, on average, than peter quillin makes, for example). it's not like a haymon mismatch where the star's purse eclipses the opponent's; k2 often have to overpay opponents just to get them in the ring.

    • I just want them to stop lying to the public and making a mockery out of the fans.

How can they not be embarrassed to label this guy a "slick southpaw with a Cuban style" knowing fine well that the boxing fans know who the best proponent of that style is in and around Golovkin's weight class?

How can they call this farce "Pound for Pound" and claim that this guy was the only guy who'd fight them? When they only had 3 names and knew fine well the Cotto fight wasn't happening.

Why even mention Lara's name as a potential opponent if you're not going to make any effort to put that fight together or if HBO won't work with him?

Why aren't Golovkin fans pissed off? So far, only one I've seen actually admit to being annoyed is that -King- guy so fair play to him.

People like HeroBando will remain on his knees with his mouth open saying "feed me" to whatever evacuates K2's bowels.

      • At the end of the day, GGG is an asset to the network given the amount of resources poured into marketing this guy. A fighter like Lara, would prove too much of a risk at this level where the network can see a better return on other matchups like the Cottos, Alverezs, and Mayweather. Until then, his management, promoters and distribution channels will continue to carefully pick the next fight.

There is nothing wrong with that, but just see it for what it is. Clever match-making.

          • they dont want to take risks. they know that with GGGs style and HBO support they can pull these stunts. the fans love him too much to call him on it, we all know how biased boxing fans get. the sad part is GGG actually is the real deal, there is no need for his people to protect him like this. he would beat lara imo, but lara would probably make him look bad for a few rounds and give him a real fight. they just want mismatches.

His fans will still find a way to excuse it.

I can already see the responses. "No one wants to get in the ring with him, doe. Heiland was the best opponent available!"

                • So you do think Lara has a chance against GGG?

Why Lara doesn't fight Gena? Why does Mikey play SPS rather than box (for a ~year)?

Cause there is a couple of other things. Do Lara really wants to fight him? Than it comes to promoters, listen to what they say.

Moreover, Gena also wants to fight some guys. I doubt Lara is among them. Gena's promoters try to make fights Gena wants. Doe..
And what we see is the result of the mostly promoters's work, not boxers' wishes.. It's kinda obvious..

                  • When people say "Gena fights nobodies", they tend to forget that Martinez escaped him, Sturm and Soliman (by his loss) did the same.
The only one who messed around some time ago and fought him is Geale. And that's what we got here with Golovkin's career.

Fight Lara, slick southpaw who has too long arms to hit well? Why?
