It's something that people get onto Haymon fighters for doing. Name dropping fighters and then not making an actual effort to fight them. Why should GGG's team not face the music?

I would have no issue if Loeffler said that the Lara fight was impossible to make or that they tried and failed. Clearly no such thing happened. They went to HBO with 3 names and none of them were Lara.
I can't speak for Loeffler I can just speak on the landscape and what the likely options are. You and I both know there is a lot of hyperbole and BS with Loeffler, he's going to contradict himself because on one hand he's trying to hype GGG as this immortal God that no one will fight, and on the other he has to try to explain why so and so isn't happening. We don't know the details with HBO, what they tell team GGG (do they say Haymon fighters are off the table, etc) we don't know any of that stuff. I believe it's very unlikely that HBO and Haymon are going to work with each other outside of May-Pac. We'll just have to see but to me it seems clear on what Haymon has planned.

Why wasn't the Bernard Hopkins idea explored?

He's not with Haymon, is a HBO fighter. Hopkins has said he'd like that fight before. Loeffler had even said Golovkin would fight him at 175lbs. Borehard was willing to do 168lb for Froch.

          - "Uhmmmm,....errrmmm....164?"

Pathetic . I'm done giving these jokers a pass.
Says everything you need to know about this FRAUD. Baby Chavez and Froch are ok @ 168 but a Ward fight needs a catchweight?

          LOL.

Don't look now but the "emperor" is wearing no clothes...

Who knows if it was. I think it's a crappy option for May being that Hopkins just got his butt kicked and lost his titles. So what is the appeal to go up to 170 to fight 50 year old Hopkins only to have to drop back down to 160 a couple months after. Maybe it was more attractive before the Kovalev fight, not anymore. That's how I see it.

The May date is just a fight, it's obviously a step down from Murray and I think it's clear they intend to try to push for a bigger name after.

As a GGG fan, I can't defend him here. C'mon... seriously they even didn't attempt to make a fight with Hopkin.

Finally someone telling it like it is, Golovkin is ducking Lara and Hopkins. 40,217 posts and the expert analysis continues. Bravo.

Too much emotional fanboyism. Wipe away those tears and then come back and have another go.

It's clearly much better than Willie Munson Jr.

Golovkin would have a big name fighter on his resume who is actually known by the general public.

he would have to go to 168 lbs prematurely and frankly it wouldn't even be a good win any more. i'm with you all the way on the lara issue, but i don't care about hopkins
