Also, here is Lara on March 8th of this year saying that he is not moving up to 160:

Lara doesn't have to move to 160 to fight GGG does he?

      • Seriously doubt Lara can fight on HBO because he's with Haymon plus I don't know why people even want to see this fight, at 154 Lara is fragile as it is his style wouldn't hold against GGG he would get hurt. But that's basically what it's come down to since the bigger names at 160 obviously aren't willing, or are unable to fight him, people end up reaching hard for anything.

The Monroe fight is what it is. Basically a stay busy fight. Hopefully they secure a much better fight after.

        • Great thread dirk! I knew GGG's team were full of sh^t once they changed their minds on what they wanna do.

Before cotto wins the WBC belt: "We'll fight anyone 154-168"
Ward calls them out: "that fight doesn't make financial sense right now"

After cotto wins the WBC belt: "we want to unify division first"

Over 30 yrs old, over 30 fights, never legitimately "won" a title. He was upgraded to WBA champ. Fights Rosado & Ichida and called those "good wins" even though they never fought above 154 prior to their fight.

And then they wanna compare this dude to marvin hagler. GTFOH anyone that thinks that way.

Come on, Dirk, it's not opinion that Golovkin was ducked by damn near the entire middleweight division, it's an easily researched fact. It's just as easy to look up how they've tried to make other fights at 168 that fell through. Not wanting to fight Andre Ward doesn't mean Golovkin's team has never tried to make good fights and it's all a myth.

You're looking for reasons to dismiss Golovkin, and you've done it before. I'm assuming it's only because of the morons on NSB who say ****** crap about him, and that's kind of a dumb reason.
One garbage fight? Golovkin's career is LITTERED with garbage fights. No pun intended. It's rare that he is in anything other than garbage fights. His best win is bloody Martin Murray. I'm not saying certain people aren't avoiding him - some have legit reasons, some don't. But not EVERYONE is.

I'm not going by what people on NSB say, I'm going by what the bull**** that comes out of his actual team. "We can't get anyone to fight Golovkin" - b1tch you aren't even TRYING.

It's all well saying you contacted Cotto when everyone knows that Cotto wasn't having that fight next nor is he officially obligated to. Why didn't they contact Lara as Tom Loeffler suggested he would after the Murray fight? We want answers.

              Can't embed for some reason.

Now the Andre Ward fight apparently has to be at a catchweight?

I thought that was just Golovkin's rabid and scared fanbase used to roll out that stipulation but there it is from the manager's mouth.

What kind of message does that send?

              - "Nobody will fight Gennady. He's the most feared man in boxing. We'll fight Chavez and Froch at 168lbs but they don't want the fight"

              - "What about Andre Ward?"

              - "Uhmmmm,....errrmmm....164?"

Pathetic . I'm done giving these jokers a pass.
Yea sometimes they disable the embedded coding for some reason:

I was able to get it though lol

Who are the bigger names at 160?

Cotto - we all know that fight had zero chance of happening next. Cotto just signed with a new promotional company and they were never going to make GGG his first fight. He's not officially obligated to take that fight anyway

Quillin - Is fighting Lee. Is with Al Haymon doe. Can't fight on HBO doe. Or do those caveats only apply when it suits Golovkin's team and fans?

                  • Lara in his own words. Skip ahead to 1:19.
He is not moving to 160. You boys need to find something else to cry about.

Let me clarify: Lara doesn't have to move permanently to 160. He can have 1 fight there. OR, GGG can fight him somewhere between 160 and 154 as a precursor to going to 154 for a Floyd/Manny fight.
