Exactly, and that is fine, good for him.....

But, that will allow Kovalev the opportunity to catch/surpass Stevenson.

Reading recent threads, he already has passed Stevenson as far as the majority of fans are concerned.

There is nothing wrong with what Stevenson has done, it is likely the best financial move, but he has not endeared himself to fans the way Kovalev has.

But should Stevenson beat Kovalev when they fight, all will be quickly forgotten.

Why would that fight be " the biggest fight ever to take place there " ?

Stevenson vs. Ward makes sense and fans would love to see that fight and that would make a fight between Winner and the krusher bigger still.
          Hold on.....

Lucian Bute did need to qualify for a shot at Ward coming out of the s6.

Ward was the best fighter at 168, Bute had done nothing.

Bute did attempt to qualify for a shot at Ward, and we all know what happened there.

That is exactly what should have happened.

As it turned out, Bute did not " deserve " to have anything handed to him..... he got offered the old fashioned route, and failed.

Ward is currently fighting at 168, the two best LHW's in the world are Stevenson/Kovalev. Personally, I'm ready now, I've waited long enough

You are entitled to your opinion on who the best is. But the top spot is not opinion based, its based on fighting each other, as you stated. Stevenson fought and beat that guy.
You simply cannot argue with this post, end of story.

But in my opinion, Kovalev has surpassed Stevenson at LHW.

The same way that Golovkin is the best MW, but not the lineal champ.

Lineal = overrated, lineal is just another blah blah ABC title..... and the lineal champ is OFTEN not the best guy in the division.

Lineal, is now a filler title, nothing more. Back in the day there was no such thing as a lineal champ, because we had a real champ.

IMHO, which is just my opinion, Kovalev is just ahead of Stevenson at 175, but that is a 50/50 fight..... fakk lineal, that means nothing.

That's not how it Works in lineage terms. That fight was for the lineal title as the weight was at 175 or below. That's a fact.

Kovalev is the best at LHW. Just like most people found Roy Jones to be better than then lineal champion Dariusz Michalszewski.

              Same thing.
              No, not really.

I can see your point, and this is not straight-forward, but.....

After Hopkins beat Pavlik, Pavlik was still the lineal MW champ.

Unless that fight took place with a max weight limit of 175, my boy Ward is not the lineal champ at 175.

All the better, because if he watched it closely he'd see Pascal was lucky to make it out of round 3 and he doesn't even have Pascal's punch resistance.

He's been running for 2 years, do you just pretend it never happened?

It's according to themselves, they're the ones turning down the fights.

Last year Stevenson managed to not fight Kovalev, Hopkins and Pascal all of whom wanted a bout with him.

Hopkins was the one running away when he moved back to HBO... The Stevenson vs Hopkins fight was a nice decision money wise and would have happened if... And that's all about money, sadly...
