Rodolfo Chávez, co-trainer and uncle of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., says a Mexican explosion with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez needs to happen in the near future. Rodolfo says the showdown is too big, with the Mexican public, to avoid forever.

There is a big weight difference right now between the fighters. Chavez is coming back on April 18th against Andrzej Fonara at a catch-weight of 172-pounds, and Canelo takes on James Kirkland at 155-pounds on May 9th.

Chavez claims he can get down to a weight between middleweight and super middleweight.

We got one guy next fighting at 155 and another fighting at 172 who says he wants to fight the first guy at somewhere from 161-167

I think whatever weight they were to theoretically meet up at, Canelo would blow him out. He'd use him as a punching bag and sweep the f**king rounds. Only chance would be for Chavez to stop Canelo and I don't think he could do it.

Canelo is not even a 160lber yet - and will never be a big one - and Chavez is gonna struggle to get to even get to 168. That fight isn't going to happen.
