I'd rather see a fight stopped early than a fighter seriously hurt.

Ok it might make me soft, and i know fighters are aware of what could happen when they get in the ring, but even so, that's just me.

Unfortunately it's part of the sport.

People say it's insensitive, but unfortunately whats more insensitive is the concept of a professional sport where two athletes main purpose is to hit each other in the head for Money, if you want to take it in that direction. Only way to stop it is by banning Boxing all together, be it damage from one fight or accumulation, damage is still being done.

I have seen enough guys hurt badly in boxing that I really don't need to see a single one more.

          Yes.

          It keeps going and going.

it will happen so freaky often that it will become the norm.

The referees job is to make sure that the rules are followed and to keep fighters from undue harm.

Since 95% or more of you have never stepped in to a competitive professional ring you are clueless as to the struggles encountered in a bout.

Safety first and everyone will live to fight another day.

Were car drivers going soft when they buckle up? Are t****ze artists soft for having a net under them?

Corner man is too close to the situation, they will want their guy to win and maybe see a way that is not really there.

The ref is supposed to be the unbiased observer, the one that is clear headed to make the correct call regardless of fight excitement or a guys chances. The ref is the best man to end it, and most of the time their decisions are good.

Also if a fight gets stopped egregiously early there can always be a rematch if a ref stops a fight too late there is no coming back.

I disagree doe....the corner is supposed to save a fighter from themselves....THEY are the ones with a vested interested in the fighter not the ref.....that is why they have the option of throwing in the towel on behalf of the athlete.....

They should be looking out, but like I said they want to win to and for a lot of guys they don't know when to say uncle.

That is why the ref with no vested interest is the right guy to call it because it shouldn't matter to him except for the guys safety.

It is going soft. The ref should have waited longer to stop the Kovalev- Pascal fight. He got hit 2 hard punches in a row. Big deal. Fighters have come back from that many times. I am sure Kovalev would have finished him so two fighters get robbed. Kovalev gets robbed of a clear KO win and has to listen to Pascal saying he would have gone on to win the fight. What is worse is when a fighter is knocked down the ref gives him all these tests and asks him all these questions before letting the fight continue. This gives the fighter lots of recovery time to clear his head and often robs the fighter who knocked him down of a chance to finish him. It makes the Dempsey-Tunney long count look short by comparison.
