I don't care what version of Roy it is. He gets KO'ed. What we didn't know about Roy back then, was that he couldn't take a punch. Against A Level fighters, you WILL get hit. Nah wasn't around to see everything unfold but i've watched his fights. How can you deny that Roy's resume is dog **** compared to what it should have been? No Nunn, No Toney rematch, No Darius, No Eubank, No Benn, No Collins. There's an AWFUL lot of filler in Roy's record. Absolute dross lol

It's going to be harder for Light-Heavy's and below to become Heavyweight champions going forward. Look at the giants competing at Heavyweight now.
If John Ruiz (the same one Jones fought) was the champion, I think Kovalev could take him. But instead Kovalev would have to fight Wladimir Klitschko to become Heavyweight champion.
Kovalev can be successful at Cruiserweight though.

Yeah of course, as I said earlier it would be wrong to act as if Ruiz was Lennox Lewis. I don't expect Kovalev to fight Wladimir, that would be ridiculous. I don't even expect him to fight at heavyweight but my point was if you're going to dismiss the Roy win at heavyweight it's at least worth discussing the same scenario for Kovalev.

Sergey's chin is nowhere near the sand-castle level of Roy's. Also Roy was caught juicing, chin decreases when you go off roids. Roy is a fantastic fighter but Sergey is all wrong for him, I fully believe we are looking at an incredible all time great Lightheavy here. The perfect mix of everything, too smart to get out boxed all night and too powerful to not find the mark and finish. Against Roy and against Ruiz.It's insane you think Ruiz could beat Krusher lol

Lol Kovalev is obviously the better fighter p4p but I just think there comes a time where the size difference is too much. Jones got away with it against Ruiz because of his ridiculous speed and athleticism, I just don't think Kovalev's would be suited to do well at heavyweight even if it's just against a solid heavyweight who is nothing special like Ruiz. Will his power have the same effect on a full fledged heavy? will he be able to carry the extra weight well? I dunno.

Kovalev would have to go through 6'6" 245+lb Klitschko. Even Deontay Wilder would be more difficult than freaking John Ruiz lol. 6'7", 230 lb and with more power.

I'm not even arguing that Kovalev is greater than Jones, because that's not the case. Jones has accomplished more. But it's not fair to compare Ruiz to the Heavy's now. Even 6'3" Heavyweights are considered small now a days.

Hill essentially had one leg for the DM fight. Jones knocked out a 100% healthy Virgil Hill in 5 on a body shot.

Later on, DM would lose to Jones leftover Julio Gonzales.
