May 9th was a bad choice for the Canelo fight.

Nobody is even thinking about the Canelo fight right now. Why didn't Oscar just move this to June? At least the buzz would have simmered from the big fight by then. Canelo vs Kirkland deserves a little more attention. I know Kirkland is on a long layoff but depending on what kind of shape he's in, we can expect him to fight till the end, (no Ann Wolfe though)

Canelo is an after thought. It's hilarious he thought he was calling any shots. But in the end it might help since hbo will be showing the floyd pac replay

His numbers should be decent since there is going to be the MayPac replay. Dude can't sell **** without Floyd being attached somehow.

Its gonna be a huge audience because it will piggyback off the replay of floyd/manny..

canelo/kirkland is gonna be highly entertaining, and it will be great for the casual who is catching the replay to get a chance and see an action packed fight with canelo...

Had he not been beasting he could have still fought with cotto in June instead of May. He would most likely have had to come here to NY for the June fight and I'm sure he wanted no part of that. Why would cotto agree to fight him in May if it's not on May 2nd?? Nobody is paying to see that fight after paying $100 to see Floyd and Manny.

With the Pac-May replay preceding it on HBO, his fight with Kirkland will have a bigger audience than it would have on its own in June.

That's not a bad way to set up a September PPV fight.

If no one was even thinking about that fight then his 10 buck tickets wouldn't have been selling as well as they did. He's fine, the date is fine and the fact that it's going to fall on the replay of Pac vs May is another bonus for plenty of people.

I don't think people are going to pay for another PPV a week after paying 100 for Mayweather vs Pacquiao. They should just make this free.
