While I was watching the fight last night, I said needs to tighten up on his defense because he is getting hit too much. Great fight though

Both Al Haymon fighters ! The crowd was for Lopez, so if he would have won, you can see his is a star - Haymon has his vision / plan in place everyone is on the blocks - he has too many fighters in his stable to protect every other fighter he has. This is boxing, you beat a star then you will become a star!

I was at this fight it wasn't a bad stopage to me. Lopez was slowing down his legs weren't looking stable. He didn't have enough power to hurt Berto. Berto should be mad cuz the ref robbed him of the opportunity of knocking him out cold in front of the hostile crowd. The ref did Lopez a favor.

I can understand the stoppage because the two knockdowns happened so close together, it showed that Lopez hadn't recovered even 20% after the first count so Berto was able to catch him easy, put him down again with one shot. He was basically a sitting duck at that point - that's the time serious brain injuries can happen, ref did the right thing, even though i would have liked it to continue because of the drama, it was still the right call by the ref.

Yet, Lopez was dropped like 4 times in the Canelo fight and the ref gave him a count every time. This was a Lopez who was moving up in weight at the time too. Berto was down on the cards, so the protection call was made; save the product at all costs.
