Comments Thread For: Roy Jones: Pascal Must Conserve Energy Against Kovalev

Roy Jones Jr. has been working with Jean Pascal on his stamina, something he thinks will be important when Pascal challenges unified light heavyweight titleholder Sergey Kovalev this Saturday at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Jones, a former four-division titleholder who serves as Pascal’s co-trainer, is “just helping him pace himself so he doesn’t get so fatigued early,” he said in an ESPN.com chat session on Thursday morning.

I don't think Pascal has the skill set necessary to conserve his energy against Kovalev.

I think Kovalev is going to force Pascal to expend energy and when Jean is gassed that's when Kov will knock him out

Anyone that disses a fighter because of his KO record is a loser, a cry baby, a whiner and has had his favorite fighter beaten to death. Get off the juice yourself. Appreciate the skills a fighter has. Was Foreman on the juice? Ron Lyle? Ernie Shavers, Boom Boom, Aaron Pryor, Alexis Arguelo, Hagler? You are a clown.

None of the fighters u named had over half their KOs by way of body shots and u even named some heavyweights . Does anyone on this site besides me realize how much harder u have to be hitting people , amongst ur contemporaries, to have approx 50% of ur KO's coming by way of body shots ? Historically it's never been even close to being reached , not even by heavyweights such as Tyson who put in formittable body work . Ward has incredible body work and I have never seen his stop anyone to the body , and if he has it wasn't many which is strange considering how many of his opponents talk about how strong he is on the inside . Hopkins has been a excellent body puncher his whole career but it was still a rarity to stop De La Hoya the way he did . Now we have GGG and Kovalev doing it every other fight or so . Kovalev merely tapped Caparello to the body and forced him to take a knee . Not to mention he's already killed someone in the ring . I'm not drinking this Kool Aid , u can have at it and enjoy KO after KO till his next opponent dies in the ring as well . Keep cheering it on !

Seriously man stop it, everyone wants to cry roids when there's a puncher on the loose. Why not cry roids when someone is really fast or throws 1000 punches for the first time or suddenly shows improved durability.
