Thurman is an idiot. Floyd hits hard enough to make fighters gun shy. Once they get hit by Floyd, they stop attacking and focus on surviving, not getting knocked out. When Floyd connects, fighters don't see the punch coming which stings. It's always the punch you don't see that hurts.

I am a Mayweather fan but he has no power. He will pot shot MP to a 12 round UD.

Miguel Cotto knows it. He fought Manny Pacquiao few years back and he knows very clearly what it would take to fight the Pacman. Then he also became a stable mate under trainer Freddie Roach. That is the reason why he said Manny Pacquiao will beat Miss Flor Mayweather Jr. on May 2. You can also ask Antonio Margarito, Oscar Dela Hoya and Brandon Rios...a few of the bigger fighters that the Pacman fought.

Your forgetting that this isn't a catchweight fight.

Great post, but Hopkins also said how big he was. Hopkins respected his power which he really fought not to get knocked out. I don't beleive PAC has that power. Floyd is also the bigger man with a longer reach which changes the dynamics in the fight! It's a total different fought them the 1 that your comparing it to

Manny Pacquiao beat the hell out of Margarito. Gave him a worst beat down then Mosley did to some extent. The damage was far worse even though Mosley did TKO him.

Now maybe you could argue that isn't the same Pacquiao in 2015 but there is no way Floyd could do that to Margarito, ever. Pacquiao is definitely the stronger of the two. Speed and Strength advantage = Pacquiao.

If you look at the fights that Floyd has not completely shut his opponent out, most of the rounds lost were in the 1st 1/3rd of the fight so Thurman shows he has been studying Floyd's fights.

and , Jr shuts down his opponents by his wizardry. They quit and go into survival mode. IF JR shuts down Pac after 4 if Jr makes it that long, and Pac fights like all the rest, just looks silly and survives, just to get out of the fight hoping it will end soon, then I will say right here right NOW without concession that Pac will do that but if HE DOES I WILL PRONOUNCE JR AS THE BEST EVER IN HIS GENERATION !!!!!!!

Maidana proved that true first few rounds Floyd vulnerable he is processing info figuring guys patterns. Manny needs to blitz him all out first few rounds if ko doesn't come he should then switch to using speed of foot in out side to side angles attack in bunches feints not all out use volume to get the win it can work

The only chance mayweather has in this fight is if he can take mannys punches and throw enough of his own to overcome mannys volume punching. Most of the time when an opponent feels the power and speed of Manny pacquiao, they shell up in their guard and just hold on so they dont get knocked out. I think mayweather will not be able to adapt to mannys speed. And Thurman is right, Floyd is not able to knock out Manny pacquiao, unless he uses a **** ton of that xylocaine and doesn't care about breaking his hand. Floyd doesn't throw hard punches because he is scared of he breaks his hand early in the fight then he would have to fight the rest of the way one handed. I believe this gives Manny the advantage because he doesn't have to worry about getting koed, so he can toy with Floyd like he did with Chris algieri and clown him all over the ring and cruise to an easy unanimous decision or possibly even knock out mayweather. If Manny know he is down on the cards in the final rounds tiu better expect some fireworks and Manny will try to knock out Floyd. I feel this is the biggest advantage Manny has is because he has knockout power he can be way down on the cards and still Ko Floyd where as if Floyd is way down which he will be, he cant come back and Ko Manny pacquiao. #war pacquiao #war arum #Floyd is still scared

I hear what Thurman's saying and agree with some of it but in all honesty Floyd Jr. truly has deceptive power. Those scoring blows have a sting and a pop behind them, ask Mosley specifically, a guy with a great chin.

Manny naturally has a smaller frame, less punch resistance than a bigger framed fighter who has power and can walk through "some" of those chopping, snapping blows Mayweather throws but they sting.

Because of the speed and accuracy of Mayweather's punches they can create a "Jarring" like effect, ,momentarily creating a loss of senses or equilibrium. Pacman will be experience that kind of effect if he chooses to continue to press and if he gets reckless then it could be lights out.

If you go back and watch the Mayweather-Marquez fight you will see that Mayweather COULD HAVE Ko'd Marquez if he wanted to but purposefully did not cause if he did he would be viewed even more as picking on the little fighter and received even LESS CREDIT for winning that fight imo. :ANYWORD:

Floyd didn't press for the KO in the JMM fight because JMM knocked the hell outta him in RD2 (right before the KD.) Floyd grinned and proceeded to drop him. But it was enough to keep Floyd honest the remainer of the fight.

NO. It wasn't Kovalev's pure strength that beat Hopkins, even B-Hop disagrees with you. Hopkins described it himself, that whenever Kovalev got done with his combination punching, he would step back out and Bernard was forced to reset. He could never counter Kovalev the way he wanted to, and that's what Manny can do to Floyd. Instead of flurrying on a back-against-the-ropes Floyd for as long as he can, he can deliver a fast combo and step back out. It will show that he is not desperate and it will also minimize Floyd's chances to get comfortable and start countering and/or grabbing Manny for a clinch.

Kovalevs power had a lot to do with Hopkins poor performance. As soon as Kovalev dropped Hopkins in the first round you could see on B-Hops face that it kind of surprised him. He went into survival mode after that. Kovalev was bigger, stronger, and 17 years younger. He had advantages over Hopkins that Manny doesn't have over Floyd.

You have to remember that there are major differences between Hopkins and Floyd. Hopkins is not as athletically gifted as Floyd pus he was damn near 50 years old in his fight with the Crusher. Floyd is 38 and Manny is 36 while Hopkins was 49 and Kovalev 32 (still in his prime). Manny, although strong, is nowhere near the puncher p4p that Kovalev is, he is also the smaller man here, and the less technically sound.

People seriously underrated Kovalev in that fight. I was one of the few who thought he could actually OUTBOX BHOP as well as as out punch him. I don't see Manny outboxing Floyd but he certainly could out punch him.
