  • It's sad that the Pac and May divide escalated to Top Rank and GBP a few years a go, and then to HBO and Showtime, and now ****ing PBC and Belts etc...

Many times I have thought, boxing fans are a joke. If you feel the need to argue about things such as this, then I really do feel for you.

    • They beat out the UFC's recent efforts. The numbers are fine, it's the economics behind Haymon's plan that comes into question. But who cares really as long as the fights are solid and on paper they are for his first two shows on NBC.

I was hoping for a 4 million average, but I was also dreading a disaster which it managed to avoid. The best part is that they did good in the important demo.

The UFC on FOX 1 main event paid out $430k....less than Molina's purse.
For such a big and popular sport MMA is supposed to be there is very little competition from other orgs to be able to pay fighters good purses. There is a reason why all these fighters are signing with Haymon, he pays the best while taking the smallest %.

If Haymon was paying these guys peanuts like the UFC, the fighters would just go with another promotional/management because there are plenty out there and more jumping in the pond.

I'm happy these guys got big purses, there is a very small window sometimes for fighters to make some good money. They should have something to show for it when they can't remember their kids names in 20 years.

Haymon has Chavez Jr...if it made sense to put the Fonfara fight on NBC, why didn't he?
Most likely SHO made a deal that CBS was going to be on board but they also needed some big names on SHO to bring the numbers up. He has to keep SHO happy since last year was a big drop in quality from the previous years.

Those shows always beat the UFC also, I know it looks funny, but old people gonna watch what they want. The reason why the UFC is seen as doing ok on Fox is because they win the 18-35 demo, which PBC also won.

          • Promising numbers for a first show without a star. Ballsy. And shows their hand a little bit. A peak into how to build stars in the 21st century. Garcia's on deck and both he and Thurman have the intangibles needed to become stars. We'll see if they're good enough.

I think comparisons to other sports are a bit premature. It was the first show and there are going to be a couple more within the next month. We'll know a lot more then and, more important, we're getting a lot of boxing on TV regardless of what channel it's on.

This was a BAD/SCB level card. Imagine if either show got this many viewers?

This amount of exposure has not been seen in this sport in many, many years. why would any fan be upset, especially when the guys winning-Thurman and Broner- usually make exciting fights.

I'm expecting the numbers for Swift and Kid Chocolate to be in the 4 mil range both guys have peaked at 1 mil viewers on SHO before.

Yeah, I don't know. Plenty to be excited about. That's if you aren't sour that it's Haymon that's doing it.

Yep. There's a casual at my job who when I first joined I used to always chat boxing with. I saw his interest wane and then disappear over time but he caught the Swift-Salka fight on a night where I guess nothing else was on and he was like, "Dude! Who is that kid? That Garcia? Wow!" I didn't bother to tell him how ****ty of a matchup it was and I bet he's front and center on April 11th.

Where did you see the PBC ad revenue get reported?
