The bigger the event, the bigger the purse. The bigger the event, the more profit for Haymon.
He will supplement drops in a fighters purse earnings through sponsorships and building the fighter up to become their own brand.
These fighters will be under contract to Haymon so infact their own brand will be similar to a subsidiary of Haymons company
At that point Haymon will run the show & the only way anyone will take him on is in a buy out, they won't be able to compete head to head
If Al is controlling the purses, the fighters that are on top are going to get huge pay cuts. They'll only be able to get payed if they go through the PPV route.

However, if he matches up solid fights in primetime, like Keith vs Robert, think it'll be a much easier sell for a PPV fight like a Keith vs Danny .

The worst part of this entire ordeal is that if it fails to launch and or it crumbles in the future, dozens upon dozens of quality fighters would be bound to the sinking ship.

Change is something that takes some time getting used to, and at times some folk never come around. However, if change is good or innovative in a manner in which it would benefit the general populace, eventually it will succeed against all odds and establish itself as the main source. The fact that PBC is the vision of the sport specifically from one man's point of view is what bothers me.

This reminds me of the censorship for music CD's . Sure the material/product is available for an infinitely wider audience, but the core/essence of what the individual artists were attempting to convey in their music has been filtered. Thus, the public that buys that filtered content is now listening to a watered down version of the artist's initial views.

Broner was being kept tame, but when he was on HBO/Sho his persona was what garnered him most of the attention he was receiving. It's as if they are muting the fighters and are bringing them out specifically for one thing, fighting. How could they branch out and expand their brand if they can't be themselves and are forced to read from a script? It just doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps in the future things will come together but as of now, I'm not so sure what to think.
I agree, can't imagine a post 30 yr old Floyd being cool about being to censored. In fact, his villan persona being raw and shown on HBO made him explode

If Haymon can make the UFC system work for boxing, has all the fighters actually fight each other and properly compensate the boxers (as UFC fighter pay is atrocious) then I'm actually for it.

Cut out the blood sucking promoters, title orgs. They're awful, corrupt and are all made up titles anyways.

If Haymon makes one title for each division, and all the best fighters are in his model (which he already has most of), then it will be much more meaningful than any other singular title that exists.

Never been a Haymon fan as he seems to be very underhand/manipulative but if he saves the sport then he's a much needed evil.

            bruh this is on Primetime.

Imagine sitting with a bunch of casuals who think the action is good and having to explain the 4 sanctioning bodies and interim and regular titles to them? i never enjoy it.

i can explain it to them, but it just sounds lame.

"Floyd Mayweather is the champion, he's the best. But he's fighting Pacquiao who is also a champion."

"By the way, these guys Kell Brook and Keith Thurman? They're champs too. In the same division."

I think Haymon will use Mayweather's success & their association as a carrot in front of his fighters...you build your brand, you keep winning, the sky's the limit on how much you can earn

The bigger shows will be PPV...that's a while off yet, PBC's still in the building stage

It was a perfect storm of events that made Floyd so popular. For him to use that as a blueprint would be the same as Don King giving a briefcase to a fighter back in the 80's.

I'm very interested in seeing if Al, his team and PBC actually develop a superstar. Top Rank is still around because they can spot, develop and match make talent to succeed.

Very interesting. That makes it clear then.

I hope Haymon is just looking to scrap the alphabet titles instead of just adding another one with his face in it.
