I think the most they said was titleholder in referencing Lee

Wilder mentioned he was the WBC Heavyweight Champion on the NBC Sports Net telecast.

Have you seen the commercial for Deontay Wilder where he proclaimed himself as "The Heavyweight Champion of the World". Apparently they're ok with that.

They also didn't mention that Garcia was the 140 pound Champ. They just said a fight between undefeated Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson (though checking boxrec just now, his last fight wasn't for any of the 140 titles, so he may have gotten stripped? I don't know).

Guys, its not a coincidence that NOW after all these years, the ABCs are getting together to talk about unification.

Haymon is phasing them out next.

No he didn't. He said that he was "THE" Heavyweight Champion. I wonder how they would announce him if he were to fight on PBC.

Heavyweight champion... Not even ranked in the top 3 at heavyweight... Lets not get bogged down in semantics

Haymon's not phasing titles out because global boxing works around them, there are loads of divisions in boxing which essentially rely on them.

I'm willing to bet the WBO title will be talked up for Lee-Quillin.

no, he said The Heavyweight Champion

I know for a fact because when he said it, the first thought that came to mind was "no you're not, it's Wlad"

edit: maybe we're not clear on when we heard it

there was a commercial during the fight, that's what i'm talking about

i haven't watched any NBC sports network **** about PBC

on the commercial he said "The Heavyweight Champion of the world"
