How would you grade the first PBC event on NBC?

It went the way Haymon expected it to go.
All according to plan, with extra expenses made to ensure that it did.

Prime time #NBCBoxing helped satisfy my sports sweet tooth in the absence of football! Cool.

and on and on and on.
That's the main thing, producing great fights. Not all this other dumb shit some of you are talking about that can easily be cleaned up.

I didn't really find it great tbh, there were some aspect that were good such as Laila Ali talking to the corner and finding out how they were handling certain things, talking to Smoger about the headbutt and it did look professional enough.
I wasn't digging the commentary AT ALL, I just didn't see any potential of it getting better than or close to Showtime/HBO. Not enough passion in their voices and too many lulls in commentary. Showtime/HBO crews are WAY better. I was watching the Guerrero/Thurman fight and whilst it was a great fight, it would have seemed way more exciting with the HBO/Showtime team covering it. Marv doesn't seem to know much about the intricacies of Boxing, Ray Leonard obviously does but he hasn't got the voice/persona to make you go OMG that's why they need a third man or replace Marv at least imo.
The Entrances were so terrible and tacky. Listen take notes from Klitschko events in Europe if you want to see good entrances or just keep it simple.
I feel as though next time there needs to be more competitive matchups, look at what the UFC does with their UFC on FOX shows. They often put on better cards than the PPVs. Load it up with some good competitive fights with aggressive fighters who bring it...the casual can always get in to that sort of fight. I think it's very smart putting on Broner on this platform though, he's a character on the mic/in the ring and it brings more attention to him as a brand because he can bring in the numbers...he's that sort of character its just about being smart with his career and him not becoming a fat **** out of it.
Also, why are American fans just TERRIBLE? The Thurman/Guerrero fight would have had an arena on their feet the whole fight here in the UK but the U.S fans are quiet for the majority of the fight despite there being a lot of good action and then boo when there is a very short lull in the action.
Overall i'll give it a D+, it has some positives and somewhere to build from but the matchmaking, entrances and commentary really need to sort themselves out. I didn't catch the whole event since i'm in the UK and it's too late for us I just caught the fights but did they show any backstage footage? That would be great, meeting up with some prominent people backstage, speak about how the fighters are looking/feeling, their predictions etc...Last edited by hayZ; 03-08-2015, 12:32 PM.

It's great to hear all your thoughts but I watch a lot of boxing and it was average, but after sleeping in it Thurman-Guerrero was good but nothing special. I really didn't like the ring walks, announcers or the way dsn't even let Thurman show his belt. Not my cup of tea but as a boxing fan I'll continue to watch anyway.

I don't know, I think Lee is very live against Quillin. He hits hard enough to stop Pete. And if he pulled that off you might be looking at a potential star in the making.
I think there's some stuff that needs to be cleaned up (the ring entrance music and commentating chiefly) but overall it was solid night for boxing. Marv Albert looks a little long in the tooth but he sounded really good whenever the action heated up in the ring. Laila Ali was pretty good considering her experience at this stage. Ray Leonard...ehhh. The graphics were real good and camera work was top notch. Plus, I loved all of the boxing commercials. Klitschko-Jennings, Mayweather-Pacquiao, Garcia-Peterson, etc. I don't know, if they can work out the kinks they might have something here.

I really enjoyed it, few points:
- Molina did nothing, nothing!
- Liked hearing Marv Albert and BJ Flores was great. SRL was ok, would be good if they could get someone like Tarver, always like him in that role.
- Laila Ali comes across as monotone and lacks charisma which is very surprising considering who her father is.
- Didn't like fighters coming out to generic walk out music, they should be able to choose their own songs.
- I'm cool with getting rid of the entourages but their trainers should walk out with the fighters.
Overall really enjoyed the event and looking forward to the card next Frida
