Floyd Mayweather is making a mistake in his choice of cornerman for his showdown with pound-for-pound rival Manny Pacquiao, says the Filipino fighter’s trainer Freddie Roach.

Mayweather plans to have his father Floyd senior in his corner when he puts his WBC and WBA welterweight titles on the line against WBO champion Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 2.

However, Roach believes the American would have a better chance of extending his record of 47 professional wins by placing his faith in his uncle Roger Mayweather.

Anyways, I actually think that Floyd Sr.'s advice benefits Floyd more than Roger's in this bout. Sr. will tell him to stick and move and pot shot while Roger will tell him to walk Manny down, which wouldn't be a smart idea especially early on.

I was in the gym with Floyd from his second fight until he won his first title from Genaro Hernandez. I also trained under Roger at that time. 100% Floyd is the fighter he is today because of Roger. Floyd used to get beat up by Sugar Ray Collins and James Crayton every day in the gym. Roger fine tuned him. Floyd Sr is just a deadbeat dad who came around when his son was already rich and started claiming credit. Muhallad Alis dad did the same thing, claiming full credit because he used to give Muhammad pieces of steak when he was an infant.

Roger has trained Floyd throughout his entire career. Dont get what the change to Sr was for?

Srs emotion might get the best in him and a Father Son arguement may take place if the moment gets heated.. Will see..

All Roger says recently is "keep doing what you're doing" and "just box his ass". Sr is a better go at this point because he can give advice. But the irony of roach talking about the way someone tatatatalks is laughable.
