100% agree. I don't think Golovkin grows his brand any larger with these fights and risks losing momentum. People will tune out if he continues in noncompetitive fashion.

Hagler & Hopkins did it that way, but they ultimately still needed the little guys to move up in order to gain the attention of the public.

Still don't know if Haymon would allow Lara, remember Haymon was the one who made Quillin pull out of the Korobov fight when it looked to be heading to HBO.

This fight is last before Cotto has to fight him or vacate. The fight after this will most likely be the for the WBC title or the IBF title.

I like Monroe Jr. But I get the feeling that a fight against GGG at this time might result in a David Reid-Tito Trinidad type of deal.

i don't like the options.... but not like he has the options like other people.

i doubt cotto is next and if cotto does vacate, his options for the WBC title don't look decent either. Pretty much nothing until late fall/winter when the IBF winner might fight him

Monroe is best opponent for Golovkin based on styles, he's a good boxer and he can make Golovkin work. Johnson would be the most fan friendly. However, I like Monroe but he's not ready yet. I rather GGG fight Johnson, Monroe gets some more experience and fight GGG later if/when he racks up a couple good wins.

He needs to take his own advice and get some fights under his belt against better opponents.

Test the waters at 168 and fight the same caliber of fighter if you insist upon staying busy
