With all the hype Joshua is getting i'd use that win as a selling point too.

I really don't see what's great about Joshua tbh. He made his name beating old man Cammerelie in 2011 and then getting beaten up by Medzidov in the final. After that he had all the hype about him and carried that into the Olympics where realistically he should have been eliminated in the opening match. Who else did he beat that was of note in the amateurs? Dychko was the only name I could find.

Joshua lost a decision in that world final by just 22-21 against a guy, Magomedrasul Majidov, world ranked 1, who was boxing in his own country, Azerbaijan, in front of that country's president who was there specifically because Majidov, a national hero, was considered a cinch for gold. They were hardly going to hand him silver in the circumstances, were they, but Josh did enough in the deciding third round of a real tough fight to have nicked it himself and even though he got the minor medal in the end it was a hell of a showing nonetheless by a guy who was still raw at international level.

Bull****. Medzidov won that final clearly. There was no hint of a robbery and if Joshua should have won, he would have even if the president was there. Why didn't they let Termur Mammadoc advance if the officiating there was corrupt? That scoreline was flattering to non other then Joshua himself. The amount of times that Medzidov caught him flush, Joshua was lucky to be standing.

I didn't say it was a robbery, I said it could have gone either way, it was that close, and against the world number one that represented a great performance by Joshua whose experience at the time was so limited. Yes, Majidov did land some flush bombs along the way but AJ took them well, showing chin and heart, and he showed quality too in connecting with enough of his own shots to make it a photo finish. Josh was thrown in at the deep end in that tournament and stood right up to the challenge. He proved his mettle there and then and his hunger and eagerness to learn will turn him into one formidable pro.
