They got to do something to stop excessive clinching.

I know sometimes during a fight fighter get to close and clinch, but more and more fighters today use this as a tactic.

If it is being used that way the refs need to crackdown on it. If it is too much for the ref to do, then let someone outside the ring keep count and inform the ref in-between rounds.

It does nothing for the sport, makes boring fights and is cheating.

it's a pigment thing, other guys can get away with clinching and dirty inside fighting but when ward or floyd does it, it becomes dirty.

Yes and that is the key point, it is illegal and thus cheating. It should not be praised as crafty or a skill as it is a blatant violation of the rules and something should be done about it.

Oh the race card...nice one Sharpton. Guess you missed the part of the thread Klitschko gets criticized for it. I hated it as much when Ricky Hatton used it too. Don't flatter yourself

people tend to be more up in arms about it when a fighter of a darker shade does it, that's the truth. for every person that complained about klitchscko doing it, there were the same amount defending him. and in some cases it even gets to the point where they will literally abandon a fighter of their ethnic background (i.e. Vazquez) if they don't fight like a typical fighter of their ethnic background.

people look at it different. mexico produces brawlers who aren't afraid of wars so they hate clinchers, especially those of their nationality. black people on the other hand are weary of the positives that come from great technical boxing and positioning, thus we take advantage of it.

We need a compuclinch counter with some of these fighters around today.
I wouldn't mind seeing this. Clinching is going to happen but this would definitely limit it and for those who use clinching as part of a game plan would have to use it strategically as they know they only have a limited amount to use, just like a time out in football or basketball.

Low blows and rabbit punches are the most warned and point deducted fouls in boxing but clinching is also illegal and it doesn't get penalized as much as it should.

As much as I don't like clinching because it disrupts the ebb and flow of a fight, if the refs allow it, I don't blame a fighter for utilizing it to their advantage, just the same as when a fighter is straying low with his body shots, if the ref isnt warning then keep throwing. If anything I have a problem with the refs for allowing it than the fighters for doing it.

Part of boxing is getting away with what you can get away with. It's called dirty boxing. In a lot of cases, you will see fighters clinch and get those little body shots in. Trust me, American fighters don't get a pass for these things (Are you new to this forum?) Guys like Hopkins and Ward get as much criticism as guys like Maidana and Hatton. Me personally, I appreciate dirty boxing. Although I did think Maidana was doing too much in his fight against Mayweather. But overall I don't see it as what is allowed and what is not. I just consider it another style of boxing. But almost every boxer subtly uses dirty boxing skills in their aresenal.

Clinching on top of being dirty, makes for a boring fight, it harms the game.

Refs need to crackdown on this.

Fighters like Ward and Wlad get away with because they are the home fighter.

Floyd got away with it because he got help from favoured ref's such as Cortez and Bayless.

If we had a standard in place rather than refs used their subjective judgement it would be a fairer standard across the board and a clamp down on this illegal boring tactic that certain fighters use.
