Its obvious that they are in different wieght classes,so you can't say who hits harder, because kovalev would have an unfair advantage, being the bigger man. But since both of them seem to tear through opponents, why do they do it differently? Kovalev has more of a one punch game changer, while golovkin has heavy fists, that can wear down, and break down an opponent. So what's the difference? Is it technique, angles, wieght classes, genetics?
Difference between GGGs and Kovalevs power?

Kovalev seems to have easy power. Doesn't even look like he is throwing hard but the results are devastating. Its obvious that they are in different wieght classes,so you can't say who hits harder, because kovalev would have an unfair advantage, being the bigger man. Kovalev is literally better in every aspect of the game IMO. And thats not a shot at GG, I like him and think he's a very good fighter, just not at the level of a guy like Kovalev. Time will tell though. GGG needs some opponents. Kovalev will have two guys that trump anyone on GGG's resume soon.Comment

Technique and genetics. Kovalev snaps his punches, while GGG swings his arms like one swings a sledge hammer. GGG has thudding power, while kovalev has concussive power.
Both are special because they have the skills to go along with the power. A lot of power punchers don't really have the skill to set up their power. These two have which sets them apart from your usual power puncher.Comment

I think GGG jab and his ability to cut the ring off is better than kovalev but they are both top boxers with similar styles so there is not much difference. Also i would say kovalev is more "raw" and GGG is more "refined" boxers.Comment

I agree. To me it's not even close, kovalev hurts guys with almost every punch. He showed incredible skill in the Hopkins fight along with power. He's the best right right now, period.Comment

If you freeze a video of GGG or Kovalev letting their punches go, you will see images that look like they came out of a boxing tutorial or text book.
"This what a left hook should like. This is a right cross ... " etc.
I think both learned how to deliver a range of punches with impecable technique and form during their years in the Russian amateur school. Combine correct punching technique with raw physical strength, and you are going to knock people out.
Beterbiev has the same ability, for the same reasons.Comment
