Should 15 Round Title Fights Return?

I sometimes wonder how modern boxers would fare if they had to go 15 to defend their titles. Would title reigns last as long? How many boxers can even go 15 rounds these days? Wouldn't this provide a better measuring stick for how modern boxers would do against the old-timers?

FYI: The television networks were responsible for the move from 15round fights. It was found that by reducing the round count to twelve, they would be in a better position to maximize profits by replacing the twelve minutes (3 rounds) with commercials. "GREED IS GOOD"

That aside, I don't believe any fighter today would have a problem going fifteen rounds. Especially with the huge advances in training techniques.

Only for title fights like unifications

When was the last 15rd title fight anyways, 20 years maybe?

That makes sense about the commercials. Money makes it all happen.

conserving time for television had little to do with it. duk koo kim being killed in the 14th round of a televised fight had more to do with the wba being the 1st to drop title fights to 12 rounds.

rican boxers would have to disagree with your proposition.

I voted yes. They never should have stopped having them in the first place. A Korean fighter was killed in the 15th round so they said no more than 12 rounds. That is not a good reason to me. Stuff happens and a death can occur in any round including the 1st round. Boxing is dangerous and deaths will happen but don't blame it on 15 rounders. In the old days they sometimes had fights of 20, 30, 40, and even 50 rounds and there was no increase in deaths.
