edwin rodriguez was actually the real linear light heavy champ. zsolt erdei was lineal, grachev beat him, then rodriguez beat grachev. rodriguez failed to make 168 so his lineal crown was at stake. ward is currently linear champ at 168 and 175.

Because he's cleaned out the division and doesn't have any competition at MW. Simple as that. Unless he starts fighting JMWs. Like Lara Cotto and Canelo. He should move up to 168 where the comp is better. Once you clean out a division it's time to test yourself, further. Just like how people want Ward to go up to 175.

You know what I liked about Erdei. He admitted he wasn't the best. He was pissed at his promoters for years, he was a lone Hungarian in the vice of German promoters.

It wasn't like he ducked, they gave him crap fights and after a while he just gave up trying to pursue the good fights.

I admit I was wrong. Edwin Rodriguez was a super fight for Ward.

                YAY WARD!

I always said he won Gold at 175 fighting at the Olympics and he should be a 175'r but money talks. 175 got Kovalev and Adonis and 168 got everyone else. Plenty Boxers need to move up from 168 division and stop hiding there not just Ward.

he admitted he wasn't the best? that was probably a translation error. he was the best! all linear champs are! thats like saying baldomir or cotto aren't the best. they clearly are. in all seriousness baldomir would have lost the lineage to hector saldivia or some bum if he tried to play it safe so zsolt was on a different level then that bum.

welterweight lineal was passed around like a three dollar whore for sailors on shore leave from a long tour back then.

I think we should encourage Ward's diva approach. Worked for Winky Wright right?
