This is what it came down to after a couple rds of GGG assessing Murray's power and deeming it non threatening so he tried to encourage Murray to open up to create more scoring opportunities for himself.

He just doesn't have a great defense but it's not horrible either, his offense is his best defense. Nothing new if you've followed him for a while.

Maybe it was just a bad night, I hope it was because against Stevens he was throwing the jab nicely, he wasn't square, he was more bladed, he had a better idea of distance and everything. He boxed almost a perfect fight if it wasn't perfect.

Like Natas said if he doesn't respect your power he'll just barge in and if he gets hit hey no biggie but that's a bad habit to have.

Like I have asked previously, what kind of drug testing did they do for this fight?

Did anyone else catch Golovkin posture up as if he was going to start shoulder rolling? It was really late in the fight and he only did it for maybe 10 seconds at max and threw a right hand out of the posture. I think it was in rounds 8 or 9.

Golovkin has pretty bad defense on the inside. Ward would take advantage of that.

When Gennady Golovkin hits you with a right hand
and your skull rattles and rings worse than a marching band.
When that shot to the liver makes you feel sick
You know who to call and you'd better call quick.

I don't think it was a bad performance at all. I think he wanted to get work in and did against a guy who was extremely tough to ko.

GGG had the best performance of all the champs that fought murray.

I think GGG's hype has raised expectations to the point to where if he makes one mistake, he is now a bum.

                      It happens.

Three knockdowns from head and body shots, a bloody nose, winning all but two of the rounds before TKOing an opponent who had never been stopped.

What more can the guy do?
