Why was Canelo in such a hurry to take the Mexican dates?

The bigger question is why couldnt mayweather fight on 4th of july or labor day or memorial day?

he'd probably be fighting if it wasnt vs pac, BUT his ppv #s wouldve definitely taken a HUGE hit if canelo also fought on that date. thats without question.
matter of fact, everyone should be thanking gb and ginger for threatening to have the fight on the 2nd of may cause i honsetly dont think fmj wouldve agreed to fight pac.

It's not your call or my call. It's up to Canelo and Oscar. If they want to fight on the same day Floyd fights it's a free country and there is not a damn thing Mayweather can do about it regardless of his win over Canelo. If they did fight on the same day what the hell difference would it make? Would the world explode? Are you that concerned with millionair Mayweather not making the maximum amount of money possible? Let them fight on the same dates and the fans can decide who they want to see the most. I promise you they will both make lots of money.

I don't really care about money issues in boxing. Unless that is what's holding up certain fights. Then I will care about money.

The question started off as a curiosity. Because I'm a normal person. A regular guy with a job and an apartment. So as a normal person with curiosity, I was just sitting here thinking "Is it that hard to wait 2 fights to get what you want?" So like a normal person, I started a thread and asked on a boxing website. Because maybe there were articles I missed about Canelo absolutely has to fight on May 2nd of 2015 because someone he loves is going to die on May 3rd, so it has to be May 2nd. I didn't want to stay ignorant, you know? But it turned into a discussion and I thought I brought up a fair point. If these are Floyd's last two fights and he beat Canelo, he should get these dates. Right? I feel like that's a reasonable point a normal person would bring up, right?

So here we are. Can't believe I broke it down to that level just to explain that I had a question that turned into a discussion. Anyways. Even if I did care who made more money between Mayweather and Canelo, than why would I be mad? Didn't Oscar and Canelo end up moving the date anyways? And even though I don't care about the money, I do care that some **** like this prevents future fights from happening because of bad blood. Trust me, it's happened before. It's a legitimate concern for a normal boxing fan's perspective. In that case, where you have to decide who gets what, I say it goes to the more deserving.

Why not? He wwould have had it if Cotto wouldn't have ducked him. As soon as the Canelo vs Cotto talks started for that date it forced Floyd into taking this Pac fight.

Had Floyd fought anyone else and Canelo vs Cotto happened he would have had the date, and moving forward Canelo is gonna look to fight Cotto and GGG who is Floyd gonna fight after Manny to draw the same interest?

Canelo has nothing to lose doing this

He's a spoiled brat. Lost to Floyd yet still tried to bully him off certain dates. He could've done so had he defeated him when they fought.

You can say what you want about Canelo but he always looks to put on the fights the fans wanna see. He fought Trou off the Cotto win, Lara when no one will give him a fight and tried fighting Cotto at middleweight. Also has talked about wanting to fight GGG.

You can hate on him all you want but you can't say he's scared to fight anyone. Kirkland is a stay busy fight because Cotto ducked him and I'm not hatin on Cotto because he's my 2nd favorite fighter but it's the truth after Canelo agreed to all his terms

That whole Mexican date thing is bulltish. I'm Mexican, are you telling me I only watch boxing on those two dates? If Mayweather fights Pacquiao on Juneteenth, Mexicans aren't going to buy the fight? ******.

I don't know anyone that references fights by the date they happened. Besides, there are no memorable fights that happened on those famous Mexican dates, besides Corrales and Castillo, but that fight wasn't promoted as a Mexican weekend date fight and only 5,000 people attended the Mandalay Bay.

Really you dont remember any other fights on thos dates how bout another one of the megas fights? Oscar vs Trinidad on Mexican Independance weekend, but you probably weren't watchin boxing than.

You do realize Mayweather didn't get those dates until Oscar retired, they were origionally DeLaHoyas dates
