Thanks for the compelling argument, perhaps you could make it better by giving me some examples of what you consider to be Pernell's greatest offensive displays in the ring.

I invite you to watch the following fights

    Mayweather vs N'Dou
    Mayweather vs Gatti
    Mayweather vs Coralles
    Mayweather vs Jesus Chavez

Please consider Floyd's offensive arsenal in those fights and reply back with fights that you feel show greater offensive skill by Whitaker. Thank you.

I think he's become a regular guest commentator on Box Nation.

I love Larry...knowledgable boxing historian....I have heard hi address this criticism of his style and he basically said, hey these guys are getting paid big money as entertainers and they should be able to handle a few tough questions...he said it's not his job to lather them up with praise and fawn over them but to prod them into some real insight into what boxing fans want to know which is why he said he didn't care if he pissed floyd off by continually bringing up pacquiao because it is what everyone wanted to know about and what Floyd would never give a straight answer on

He wants fighters in top condition and trying to win every second of every round. He is from an era when the fight is over the fighters are "drained" from giving their all out effort. Not like these minute to minute counters we have today who
have picked their opponents, refs, their the promoters and cashiers!!!!
You can't loose when all those hats are hanging in your corner.
I'm with Larry, ring the damn bell and give a real effort!!!

This would be ok except for the fact that he had his pet favorites. When did he ever hardball Oscar De La Hoya? Did he bombard him with questions on why he ran from Trinidad in the final rounds, which given Mercahnt's penchant for runners he should have? NO. He was very gentle with Oscar and couched his questions very respectfully -- a respect that he never really had for guys like Mayweather.

Gotta give the man credit for calling Floyd out on this:

No one else seemed to have the balls..
