The name of the game is to hit and not get hit. Nobody likes to be punched in the face and every boxer in the world would love to possess Floyd Mayweather's reflexes, timing, ring IQ. Aggressiveness and toughness matter in fighting, but not nearly as much as smarts and strategy.

This is TBE everybody. All of this holding and illegal tactics and no points were taken. As BIG as he was, he didn't want to engage? But he is TBE? Better than Ali? Better than SRL? Better than SRR?

I do not post here (You last visited: 08-29-2014 at 12:12 AM) and am not someone who seeks the approval of anyone on this site. I do however lurk here... A) for lol's and B) to keep up with the latest news of boxing.
I am from the UK and am a Mayweather fan (saw him in Vegas against Ortiz). And I wanted to give my thoughts on everything and anything to do with this fight. I don't give a crap if people agree or not... I just feel like getting my thoughts out there after such a big event. (sorry if they are a bit disjointed but this is not scripted).
First of all I want to say I don't think this is Floyd's best win. I think the performance was B- but he did what he had to do. I think Floyd's wins over Hoya, Castillo, Corrales, Cotto and a couple others are better wins.
I have always said Manny was a product of soundbites, good promotion and the media. Go on boxrec now. Show me one win (asides from Marco) that was a great fighter coming off a good streak/win. EVERY win on Pac's resume against a good fighter not named Marco, is a questionable one. Most of them had one or two losses in their last 3 or 4 fights. (these are facts btw).
I was never impressed by the guy.
I remember watching him for the first time against JMM in the first fight and thinking this guy just throws double jab left hand every time, he is predictable.
I am also not ashamed to say I believe Manny was a juicer and that he is a big excuse maker, a disgrace and his fans are the worst boxing has ever seen. I do not care if this is politically correct or not, it is the way I see it. (I will give reasons in a bit).
I am also not ashamed to say that as a Floyd fan it has been a tough road for 5-6 years as he got the short end of the stick in the media and with the majority of casuals. He was accused of ducking and being a coward and everything else.
Pacquiao was made out to be some honorable man, some idol to be worshiped... but in reality he is as false as they come. He is a man who refused a drug test (inexcusable, indefendable), a man who said he lost because he wore the wrong socks, wrong gloves, had to give blood, had a bad shoulder... etc etc. He is a man who when he had a close fight (JMM) waited 4 years to give a rematch whereas when Floyd has a close fight he rematches his opponent instantly.
I am not someone who defends Floyd in his lifestyle... I do not care for the flashy life... but at least he does not preach something he is not... Manny goes on as if he is Jesus himself... he believes his own hype... thinks he is a savior ("people can be inspired by me coming from nothing to something").
The good vs evil thing was and is bullsht... this is not rocky, this is not life or death.... it is a sport... no different from any other... people who buy into that Rocky type sht are idiots who deserve to feel like they didn't get their moneys worth.
Floyd is one of the greatest boxers to ever lace on a pair of gloves... he might not be the most exciting to ever fight... but he is surely one of the most unbeatable. The fact it has taken this long for him to be applauded by the media is a disgrace. The only boxer I can legit say Floyd didn't get in the ring with that maybe should have is Margarito... BUT how can you blame Floyd for chasing a Hoya fight knowing the money he has now made from that path. His run from 2007 onwards may be the greatest run in the history of the sport.
Anyway, great event, glad it is over, let boxing continue without the plastic fans now please.

Have you ever actually watched Ali fight? He hugged WAYYYYYYYYYY more than Floyd ever has and he is still an unarguable ATG.
