That is no lie. I have two older brothers(and one younger) and we all train at the gym together. When i spar with the younger of the two he would hit me hard enough to let me know my guard is down or that Im getting sloppy but the oldest tries to t off on us to put us to sleep. We had a lot of gym wars that way.

I know Margarito gave Rashad Holloway the beating of his life in sparring, made him quit and broke his orbital bone.

Did you guys ever KO one another?

I guess it would make you tough, but it also might dent you and ruin your career. Back in 2010, I sparred with my neighbor, 18 -- who was an aspiring boxer. Back then I, 19, genuinely did not know what I was doing. I was just chasing him and throwing bungalows with every muscle fiber in my being. I fractured his forearm, ending his would-be career. Sparring should never be unsupervised and must have a concerned trainer in the ring overseeing everything.

According to wolff's law your bones with adapt over time to the loads being placed on those bones, becoming stronger. For example, anyone that has boxed, your hands/knuckle bones are probably very dense, more so than the average person from repeatedly hitting the heavy bag.

I'm wondering how this can affect a fighter's "chin". If you're getting punched in the skull, your skull will to become more dense as well, harder, which affects the flow of energy throughout your skull from taking a punch.

This could be a potential benefit of intense sparring.

This one guy got murdered in my gym years ago.. Was thrown in with some pros and he couldn't swat a fly .. That sparring session left him punchy for life .. Was never the same again ' I've knocked out a guy in sparring but we had some on going issues .. No better place to resolve them

Yes of course sometimes the coaches let it go. Sometimes we just want to have a fight and we want to see who the best in the gym is and who the toughest is and if we have to dig down and really go through pain and suffering can we do it. A gym war is a necessary sometimes. Sparring isnt always to play patty cake
