In boxing gyms, do sparring sessions ever get as brutal as fights like Trinidad-Vargas, Cotto-Margarito, Gatti-Ward, Hagler-Hearns, Ortiz-Maidana, etc.?

I've seen some, yes...the best fights you'll see are often in the gym...many more solid punches landed than in real fights...

Oh yes sometimes things can get REALLY ugly in the gym...

I've seen guys stopped & ko'ed during sparring....Not a common occurrence but it does happen...

If you really wanna see it go down put two brothers in the ring...Best sparring sessions I've ever seen, Byrd vs Byrd & Dirrell vs Dirrell...knock down drag out epics...wish I coulda recorded some of em....

YUP very true. Two twin brothers here, similar weights and records...sparring was like death match between them lol

So the coaches don't stop it? Just let them beat the tar out of one another?

That must been fun to watch though. A nightmare for their parents though.
