I respect Mares. He's a true competitor who challenges himself against the best all the time. They pushed for the Donaire fight but Arum blocked it. That makes me think that Arum probably would have blocked him from Rigondeaux too at 122. He beat up Anselmo Moreno, who is one of my favorite fighters in the game today when I didn't think he would. He beat up Ponce De Leon when most said he was too small to be in that division. And he fought Jhonny Gonzalez who most were referring to as a tuneup when the fight was a signed. If your taking tuneups against a ****er like Jhonny that just shows that you are up against the best of the best day in and day out.

I wasn't a fan of Mares and was bitter about him beating my boy Moreno but I've become a fan of his after seeing him challenge himself over and over again. I can't wait to see him beat and batter Santa Cruz later this year.
