Why do people act like you still need all this time to promote things? This is the age of social media. This isn't Barnum and Bailey's riding trains from town to town in the 1910's. News goes around the world and back in minutes. Nobody needs to pick up the Sunday paper to find out the fight is on, chances are even Great Grandpa Gordon has a facebook and a kindle, and if he doesn't Great Grandma Ruth does.

For people like you and me it doesn't require but they want and need to get a certain quota as the guarantees will be high. If you were a business man that had something to do with this, you would want to have as much time promoting this as possible. That is if you are being objective about it. Casual fans have no idea that there is even a negotiation going on.

I dont think any "true Boxing fan" relies on Dan or ESPN for Boxing news. Dan and ESPN is for the casuals, not for the hardcore fans. I, personally check the news for fight updates, not the gossip, because theres always 10 sides to a story in the Boxing world. People poke fun at Dan because all he hears is one side, and reports on it as fact.
