hearns would toy with pacquiao and knock him out. the size advantage would be too much for pacquiao to handle given hearns' style.

What an idiotic comment. Watch the 1st Hearns/Leonard fight. Poor survival instincts? I don't think you knew the meaning of that word

Please boxing gods forgive me for the blasphemy I am about to do.

Pac's closed opponent to Hearns is Chris Algeri, as far as the fighting style.

Chris is 5'10, Hearns is 6'1.

And if Chris had a stiff jab with the pop that Hearns had he would have been able to beat Manny, instead he was a feather fisted puncher, with a below average jab.

Hearns is taller than Algeri, much better jab, great power on his punches, better footwork, decent at avoiding leaping punches "that pac does". Hears also had a "killer instinct" if he felt he could finish you, he would try, he wasn't specifically ok going to the judges.

Basically, I find it hard to believe that Manny would be able to close the distance.

There were very few welterweights in 100 years that could've beaten Hearns.

Leonard, Robinson, maybe a couple others.

This is seriously a joke poll, pac is not superman, hearns would outjab and outwork him.

****** matchup. Hearns too long and skilful for Manny to outbox, way too powerful and big for Manny to take it too him.

I dont think manny could go the distance even if he is boxing cautiously the whole fight. He still likes to lunge in and if he lunges into Tommys right that would be ugly to say the least.

Reading some of these replies gave a good laugh. Manny just wouldnt get near Tommy. He's up against a 10 inch reach disadvantage against what i personally think is the greatest jab of all time.
And for those who haven't seen Hearns fight (a lot judging by these replies) he was fast and moved like a dancer, master at controlling distance.

you are talking utter ****. Tommys back was huge. I would say he had a damn sturdy structure for a 6''1 WW.

Look this topic is just annoying me so i gotta say this. Tommy is imo the greatest boxer-puncher of all time. Brilliant boxing and moving ability combined with the deadliest right hand in the history of the sport imo.

The only way to beat him is if you are bigger or of the same size, and have the necessary iron jaw to get near him, and the punch to hurt him. Hearns chin is underrated, only good punchers ever hurt him.

Mannys size and frame just doesnt let him compete in this matchup, its a physical mismatch. Any WW of the last era vs Tommy is a physical mismatch besides Tito and Margarito, the real big WWs who could fight at 154 and still not be undersized.
