  • Comments Thread For: Roman Gonzalez Begins Path For Naoya Inoue Bout

Triple world champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, who currently holds the WBC flyweight crown, will return to the ring in Nicaragua on February 28, when he faces Mexican veteran Valentin Leon (38-28-3, 21KOs) in a ten round non-title fight. Leon has won his last four outings.

The fight is taking place at the super flyweight limit of 115-pounds, as Gonzalez begins to test the waters for a likely year-end battle with WBC super flyweight champion Naoya Inoue of Japan.

Wow, he's fighting a guy with 28 loses? That's pretty ****ing awful for a champion. I rarely see a champ fight someone that bad. It's usually at least someone from the upper top 15 in the sanctioning body. And top 10-15 from sanctioning body rankings are bummy enough.

And ya I'm surprised by the guy he is fighting as well, 28 losses is pretty unacceptable.

Is it really? It's been a while since Gallo has fought such a worthy opponent, I guess Roman even beats him at selecting bottom of the barrel opposition

I'm not really trying to bad mouth Chocolatito. But I'm just curious. When was the last time any belt holder fought someone this bad?

Naoya Inoue is a monster, he will eat Gonzalez for breakfast. Inoue strikes fear and terror into his opponents.
