I'm a resident Floyd "nut hugger". If you don't know that then you're not too active here. I get bashed and take **** for being a Floyd fan on a daily basis. I'd like nothing more than to see Floyd succeed in life after boxing. But it's hard to believe he will. History shows, Tyson, Holyfield, countless of NBA stars, NFL stars who live just like Floyd while they are active in their sport but go downhill after retirement.
A guy like Allen Iverson should have gone broke, but he can't withdraw too much money on his $32 million in the bank until he's 55. And in 5 years his pension kicks in, which is $8k per month ($96k/year) his pension alone is a lot of people's ideal salary. Also, he gets $1million a year from his funds. But that's the NBA, known to have probably the most generous pension plan of any major sport in the U.S.
Look up boxing pension plans, they don't even exist. Floyd's idiotic spending sprees are not backed up by some league pension plan. He's backed up only by what ever money he earns from fighting. Floyd's 19 years as a pro would have qualified him for maximum pension benefits in any other sport. In boxing, he and every other pro boxer get absolutely nothing. They're supposed to be the financially smartest athletes because of this, but they are some of the dumbest athletes, financially speaking.Comment
