Lee shrugged off some massive shots from Chavez that night. If not for the small ring and extra 20lbs, I don't think Chavez would've been able to walk through Andy's shots. It turns out Julio did actually give a piss sample. I remember the story Sugar Hill said about how Chavez took his piss test with 3 members of his team in the bathroom with him and no doctor present. Shady ass ****.His only two losses came as tko's. One against Vera, which was a terrible stoppage as he was punching back when the ref waived it off, and the second came to Chavez jr...a fighter that outweighed lee by damn near 20 pounds on fight night. He was on his feet both times mind you. He wasn't on his ass. Also Chavez jr refused to take his piss test before the fight. Anyhow, this dude can take a shot
This will be the biggest puncher and maybe best boxer Quillin has ever faced (I don't count a 40 year old Wright coming off a 3 year layoff following a thrashing to Williams which was preceded by another 2 year layoff and loss to Hopkins).Comment

What does the small ring have to do with Chavez jr taking Lee's shots? Chavez jr might not be an A level talent (neither is Lee) but his chin is rock solid and Lee couldn't hurt him.Lee shrugged off some massive shots from Chavez that night. The bottom line is that fighters like Vera and Rubio fought the same size disadvantage and still went the distance. That's telling regardless of what excuse you want to use.
I'm not impressed by Quillin but I'm even less impressed with Lee who gets hit way too much and is certainly no master boxer.Comment

I always wondered why Emmanuel Steward and then HBO were so high on him. What does the small ring have to do with Chavez jr taking Lee's shots? Chavez jr might not be an A level talent (neither is Lee) but his chin is rock solid and Lee couldn't hurt him.

I watched him make so many mistakes in fights that he shouldn't and thought man his team must be really frustrated with him with all of his supposed talent.
He's a good fighter, just never understood the love for him.Comment

Small ring had to with Chavez being able to maintain more pressure on Lee and breaking him down. He was able to catch Lee on the ropes more and more after the 3rd.What does the small ring have to do with Chavez jr taking Lee's shots? The first time Vera fought Chavez, Julio was embarrassingly out of shape. The second time they fought, Vera stayed on the move and didn't make the mistake of standing ground and trading with the giant. Rubio was never able to mount any kind of sustained offense with Chavez, they spent most of the fight smothering each other.
Vera & Rubio weren't the only ones who went the distance with Julio. Vanda, Rowland, Lyell, Duddy, and Zbik did as well. Pretty confident Andy's a little more durable than those guys. Maybe it was as simple as Andy making the mistake of trading too much with a bigger man as he was able to invade Andy's space more and more or maybe there was something else going on. But swap out Chavez for Quillin, and I don't think Quillin holds up to the same offense Andy was landing on Julio.
Pete seems to fade after the early rounds in some of his fights. I think with his lack of experience, he loses focus. I remember Guerrero making a big run on Pete in the 6th and even Konecny having some success in the mid-late rounds. After landing that right on Quillin at the end of the 4th, Rosado had Quillin backing right off him for the rest of the fight. Andy's much better than those 3 and setting up great shots, and he carries a bigger punch in either hand.Comment
