  • Sugar Ray. He says that in his prime he would beat both Pacquiao and Mayweather. I believe him. Sugar Ray ranks above them both. All time has to go to Robinson, he would school Leonard, Pacquiao and Floyd. Robinson TBE

Plus being Koed by non-descript fighters early on and losing to Bradley don't help much. I didn't think he lost to Bradley. I actually thought he won 10-2 rounds when I watched it live. But that's what the record shows.
          pac not in top 5??????!

ohhh okay.. i see what happend..

Except he was offered the fight, offered seven times more than any individual purse he'd ever made in his life, and he still rejected it.

Many of them were champions because belts in this day and age are handed out like cotton candy at a fairground. We are in an era where the likes of Canelo can be declared a champion for beating an unranked Matthew Hatton for a vacant belt, or Andre Berto can beat some Mexican stiff that nobody knew before or has heard from since and be declared a champion. ****ing Maidana traces his lineage back to Senchenko.

He was offered eight million to fight Margarito & rejected it to go right Baldomir for allegedly (the official purse was never disclosed) the same amount, and that was after already having turned down seven million the year previous to fight Tony.
Dela Hoya and Mayweather weren't in the same weight class either, but Floyd still moved up to fight him, Floyd was ready to jump from 135-140 to 147-154 to fight Dela Hoya or Mosley and Mosley went on a vacation and Dela Hoya took the fight. so weight wasn't a problem against either Hagler nor Pryor.

I believe that Tommy Hearns was a great fighter but think about this for a second, Tommy Hearns got knocked out by all the great fighters that he faced, Leonard KOed him, Hagler KOed him even Barkely KOed and he wasn't old or past prime especially against Hagler and Leonard. if you compare what Hearns accomplished going into the fight against Leonard and what Corrales accomplished going into the fight against Mayweather, you'll find out it's not so much different, the guy he fought previous to Leonard had a record of 10-9-2! So at the time Hearns wasn't as big as he is now, sure he was considered to be a threat, but Corrales was a huge threat to Mayweather also and Floyd called him out, fought him and KOed him out in one of the most dominating performances I've ever seen!

If the fight is going to generate more than 50 million, why should the fighters get 15 and the promoter get 35 million? this is not right! Floyd did the right thing by buying out his contract and getting to keep all the purse, Floyd made 40-50 mil fighting Mosley and Cotto instead of the dimes that Arum was offering him. Floyd couldn't have bought out his contract on Friday and then tried to make business with Arum (a Margarito fight) on Monday! Let's be real for a damn second here, Margarito was probably cheating for a big part of his career, he was probably cheating against Cotto, which is the defining win of his career, and on the same night he got caught what happened to him? he got KTFOed against Mosley who nobody gave a chance, he got F'ed up by Pacquiao and KOed by Cotto and guess who fought the guy who first KOed Margarito (Mosley), yes, it was Floyd Mayweather, he fought Mosley when Mosley was coming off a very impressive win against Margarito.

Titles are handed out like cotton Candy? ok, Canelo beat a bum for the title, but he defended it against the number one contender at the time (Austin Trout) right before he faced Mayweather, so this made him the lineal champion!
Even if people win titles they don't really deserve nowaday, Floyd made up for it by consistency, Mayweather is 24-0 in title fights, Leonard was 10-2-1, Duran was 12-7, Hearns was 15-4-1 and Hagler was 15-1-1.
Duran quit against Leonard, Hearns lost to all the big names he fought except for Duran, he got knocked out by both Leonard and Hagler and Hagler fought at 1 weight division all his career. I don't wanna take anything away from these people they were great fighters, but I admire Floyd's consistency, longevity and prolonged focus on the sport even though he made more money in the sport than all these fighters combined, he still trains like he doesn't have a dime and he always found a way to win and never gave up.

              • You gotta go with Sugar Ray Leonard. He was a five division champion, only fought two people with a losing record, and made some of the best fights ever. And I can't stand the guy, cause I was a Hearns fan. But I'll still admit that he has been the best since Ali.

Also, this list loses style points for not including Ricardo Lopez. He'd be my number two pick.

he isn't....Jones, Duran, Leonard, Whitaker and Mayweather are ahead of him...these dudes were more dominant in their prime and between them they only had 4 losses by age 30....Manny is a great underdog story but does it make a fighters accomplishments less meaningful because it was expected?

Hopkins could be placed ahead of him with no argument

Also head to head I'd favor Duran, Leonard, Whitaker and Mayweather over Manny who is great but how can you be the best since Ali and you're not even the best in your own generation?

Give a clear answer. The answer isn't 6 guys over Manny. What's your exact, 1 name answer? Don't bring up Pacquiao, just quick reply with one name.
