If you have to wear "punchers gloves" to win a fight or gain an advantage then you are the lesser fighter. When it comes down to it, you still have to land the punch. That tells me that trying to outbox the opponent is out of the question.

Let Manny wear his type of gloves, and let Mayweather wear his. Let them use their own preferences.

Just like how Manny uses puncher's gloves to allow him to utilize his punching power, Mayweather uses his padded gloves so his hands don't get hurt easily, therefore improving his boxing game as well. Imagine if Floyd wasn't wearing the gloves he usually wears and fractures his hand in the middle of the fight?

I would generally struggle to call any 8 oz. gloves pillows, but all 8 oz. gloves are not created equally. The padding in Winning 8 oz for example spread the impact of the blows out a lot more due to the composition of the glove. The foam is high quality as well so they'll generally hold throughout an entire fight and you're less likely to be cut.

The leather/material for competition Reyes(The horsehair not the foam Reyes) on the other hand break's down fast. As the fight wears on and the material breaks down the sting from the punches will feel worse and worse.

            Is this ACTUALLY a issue??

I don't remember seeing anything about Mayweather not wanting Manny to weak any specific type of gloves.

I know he did for the Maidana fight, but lets be fair, those custom gloves had no padding, did you see how they twisted like a wet rag or sock?

You are defending it,what are you on about?

And what are you talking about.. Floyd wasn't forced to wear extra padded gloves that makes no sense going back to the ODH fight because it wouldn't affect the damage outcome

De La Hoya wanted Reyes brand, the "puncher's glove." Even though Mayweather always wears Winning brand.

Doesn't affect the damage Floyd could do and guess what,I don't agree with it.they should both have been able to wear their gloves of choice if sanctioned... so Oscar can go **** himself ok Dunn?

just because ODH put it in a contract with Floyd,Floyd deserves the right to **** Manny with padded gloves and posssibly take away a major gamechanger which is his power?
Yes it does work the other way around even if Floyd's main objective is to score points.

With a less padded glove like Reyes he could fracture or break his hand hitting De La Hoya's noggin a lot easier and I wouldn't even think much of it because it's notoriously easy to hurt your hands in Reyes gloves; whereas Winning's are so well padded around the knuckles I would barely think it's possible to hurt your just simply hitting someone in the face barring something going horribly wrong.

For someone with brittle hands that has to go 12 rounds guaranteed pretty much every time I would think his hands health over 12 rounds would be just as important as some unskilled slugger's dependence on his power.

I won't see this fight unless it's a fist fight and Manny is allowed to wear brass knuckles.

Bob will not allow his boy to ever fight Mayweather. Ever. So petition him because the fight's not happening at all anyway.
