Let's get to the beef.
Wilder's team will never risk the belt to Povetkin.
They have the entire country's interests NOT to fight Povetkin.
Should Povetkin vs Wilder become mandatory.. Uh oh!
Bye bye Wilder! Nice knowing ya!
In future, any belt relinquished by a retiring fighter should be contested by the TOP boxers, not dished out to lesser ones to fight over and then tie it up. Big mistake but alas, I am SURE it was done on purpose to generate the money/interest that this East/West rivalry has done.
Smart move America. If you can't WIN a belt legitimately, engineer in financially so you can BUY a beltComment

But I tipped Stiverne to win myself but also gave some pretty clear grievences about Stiverne also. Especially workrate, which panned out beyond belief.
With Povetkin however, none of these things are true.
I can't see many avenues in this fight (unlike the Stiverne one) where Deontay can really win.
Can you? Can anyone?
If so, what are they?Comment

he should've won the perez fight, but whatever.
did you watch the povetkin fight? cuz as i recall he was doing pretty good in that fight. just because he got knocked out by division's no 2 doesn't mean he's bad.
tony thompson was old two years ago when he beat one of the most hyped prospects at the time, david price. then he came back to england and did it again. a year later he beat odlanier sodlis. so maybe, just maybe (despite his age) thompson isn't that bad. quite the opposite, actually. so he lost to wlad, who hasn't?
@ the malik scott part.
Because he's not as good as Wilder, he's bad? Yeah, TT did beat Price and Solis. So what? Both of them hadnt beaten anyone before or since. Solid was living on his amateur background 10 years and 60 lbs ago. Thompson is what he is, a gatekeeper/journeyman type fighter.
Yeah he did alright, so what? He didn't win. I still had Povetkin ahead by th time of the KO. He's just big. Very raw.
What's funny about the Malik Scott part? Who on Takam's resume would beat him?
And why of Takam or anyone on his resume would beat Stiverne who Wilder just schooled with relative ease?Comment

Where did I say he was bad?

Wilder (6'6) started using his jab, wow, impressive. Stiverne didn't cut the ring off him, he was following him all night. Without a head movement.
Yeah, that was schooling, no doubt about that.
I laughed at Malik Scott part cuz this is the same Malik Scott who took a dive in the Wilder fight (who's friends with him btw).
You can have all the skills in the world, but if you have no heart, you're not beating anyone decent (Perez, Thompson - best names on Takam's resume).
Just ask Victor Ortiz.Last edited by Szef; 02-08-2015, 06:31 PM.Comment

I like Perez and think he was a very decent fighter but he hasn't showed up the same since the Mago tragedy. It took something away from him I think and he wouldn't be the first that it's happened to.Comment

Takam is more proven, is that even debatable? I don't care what you think of them, Solis and Thompson aren't a walk in a park for anybody.

Well, how is using a jab a schooling when Wlad does it, but not when Wilder does it?
Wilder clearly schooled Stiverne. He won 11/12 rounds. In what world is that not a schooling?
Oh Malik Scott took a dive. Spare me please. Wilder also beat guys like Kelvin Price, Liakhovic & Firtha who at least were alright before they faced him. Takam's other wins were against guys who had their prime more than 15 years ago like botha & grant. embarrassing.
Malik Scott should have won his fight vs Glazkov and also just beat Leapai who challenged Klitschko.
And why would you say Solis is not a walk in the park for anyone? When has he proven that in his pro career?Comment
