Comments Thread For: Froch Gets Cold Feet on Hopkins Due To His Age

A few days ago, WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs) said he was interested in a fight with former two division champion Bernard Hopkins (55-7-2, 32KOs), 50-years-old, in a summer showdown in Nottingham.

Froch recently vacated his IBF title as the sanctioning body pressed him to make a mandatory defense against countryman James DeGale.

Hopkins became a unified champion at middleweight and then skipped the 168-pound division to capture world titles at light heavyweight. Before his retires, Hopkins is clamoring to capture a belt at 168.

He's right. I felt Kovalev took his foot off the gas because he felt bad. Hopkins needs to retire before the gets hurt.

50 year old Hopkins beats Froch at 175 right now, real talk.

Froch would rather cash out against a bloated JCC Jr. even though he'd almost make the same amount of money fighting 50 year old Hopkins.

I disagree. .he tried to take Hopkins out but couldn't. Sergey even admitted hurting both his hands on Hopkins head but couldn't put him away.

It's not money, he wants to fight in Vegas.

Given Chavez fights in March, there are doubts it will be Froch-Chavez in June so he might fight someone else.

I wouldn't mind seeing Froch-Dirrell (Anthony) in June.

I've said the same exact thing in the past that fighting Hopkins is a lose-lose. Same with Juan Manuel Marquez.

He definitely tried taking him out dude. Hopkins just took his beating and survived. Kovalev definitely seemed angry and out to get Hopkins because of the tongue mocking B-Hop did. Rather than step off the gas like you observed, I saw the complete opposite from Kovalev. He definitely stepped on the gas.
