Just watched the second Froch fight a couple of days ago and Kessler seemed lightyears away from his devastating best. don't think an extra two years will do him any good.

Kessler defeats him pretty easily in Denmark. The referee's won't let Ward off with cheating and constant hugging overseas.

It's a decent fight, ward needs the money, kesslers gets a chance for revenge and HBO gets a almost big fight.

We've seen several of these 'close' negotiations, and the fights never materialised. As has been said, really doubt Ward leaves the US to fight a guy in his backyard that he already beat in a farewell fight where he will leave it all on the line...unless he gets a crazy purse and he is just in the game for the money these days.

I'd definitely watch it...just the intrigue itself of both fighters coming off long layoffs, that rarely happens. Just doubt Ward will go through with it unless he really needs that $$$.

Danish paper BT writes that Sauerland has had extensive discussions with Andre Ward and HBO in Los Angeles.

Now he returns to Europe saying:

"I'm sure we can persuade Ward. We got HBO backing. Its probably just up to Kessler".

The dane announced his retirement just last week and hasn't been in the ring since a decision loss to Carl Froch in London nearly two years ago.

I guess Ward realizes that HBO is not going to pay him $2 million to fight a stiff. Ward is a much bigger star in his own mind than he is in the minds of anyone associated with boxing, including fans.
